According to the Website of Russia's "Izvestia" newspaper on January 18, the "Dagger" hypersonic system successfully completed testing in the Arctic.

The Izvestia learned that the test was completed by the end of 2021. Pilots practice air patrols and fire hypersonic missiles. The only "dagger" delivery vehicle of the Russian army, the MiG-31K fighter, participated in the test. Experts point out that MiG fighters and anti-submarine aircraft equipped with hypersonic missiles can practice new tactics to interfere with the attacks of large enemy ship battle groups.

Russian military sources revealed that the test of the "dagger" hypersonic system was considered a success. Testing in the Northern Latitudes lasted several years and was completed by the end of 2021. As part of the testing effort, the Air Force's MiG-31K fighters conducted combat launches and combat-training patrols. The operation of aviation equipment under complex climatic conditions, including the effects of low temperatures, was tested during the flight. The northern fleet's aircraft escorted the MiG carrying a hypersonic system. The anti-submarine aircraft was responsible for detecting the presence of foreign targets in the test area and taking photographs of the target's location before and after the attack.

The MiG-31K appeared not only in the north, but also in the south. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that in the summer of 2021, two MiG-31K aircraft were temporarily transferred to Russia's Hemaim Air Base in Syria. They completed flight training in the eastern Mediterranean, during which they became familiar with strategically important airspace.

In Syria, aircraft carrying "daggers" also actively interact with naval aviation.

Military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia that the Dagger hypersonic aerial missile system can attack ground targets, but first deal with enemy ship battle groups.

The "Dagger" is an aviation system composed of MiG-31K carrier aircraft and hypersonic missiles. On March 1, 2017, a squadron of 10 MiG-31Ks began combat test duty at the Southern Military District airfield. Aircraft carrying "daggers" have participated in several exercises over southern Russia and over the Black Sea.

It is reported that these hypersonic missiles will be deployed not only in the Southern Military District, but also in other military regions and the Northern Fleet. The time they spend on combat duty depends on the implementation of defence orders and the training progress of carrier crews. In addition, infrastructure is currently being built for air-space force units using "daggers". (Compilation/ He Yingjun)
