In November 23, the Windows PC Xbox APP introduced Compact Mode, which enhances your gaming experience by providing a more intuitive user interface on smaller screens, including Windows handhelds. We're excited to announce that Compact Mode will add a "Jump Back" feature and a "Friends" panel enhancement, with the beta rolling out from now on to all Xbox Insiders Preview users who have signed up for PC Gaming Preview.
Compact mode "jump back" function
When we introduced Compact Mode, we committed to giving you more space to browse your content by simplifying the sidebar. Now, we've taken it a step further with the Skip Back feature, our latest feature that gives you quick access to recently played games on your Windows device when you're immersed in Compact Mode.
The "Jump Back" menu will display the last 9 games you have played in the app. When you tap on either of the game icons, you will be taken directly to its game center, where you can launch the game. You can also right-click or press the menu button on the controller to launch the game directly from the menu.
Compact Mode Friends panel enhancements
With compact mode, we can also access the Friends panel more easily through the joystick navigation, quickly accessible directly from the sidebar and in line with other panels such as Notifications. We'd love to hear your feedback as we continue to improve the friend-related experience in the app.
