Nulty completed an all-LED lighting solution for the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). As the financial hub of the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, THE DUBAI INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL CENTRE is a business district of business, gastronomy and culture that integrates financial institutions and modern office space. Gate Village is an area of shops and restaurants, galleries and public green spaces. It serves as a central connection within the area and features two bridges connecting the high-rise buildings on both sides of the street. Nulty partnered with 10DESIGN to implement a lighting scheme that helps Gate Village become a destination for its professional community, local residents and visitors, and to drive foot traffic in the evenings and weekends.
Nulty's lighting concept includes two glowing bridges that encourage people to stay for a long time, orient themselves, and discover new shops and restaurants. Linear RGB media tubes are mounted on the ribbed plates of each bridge to enhance their architectural shape and provide a stimulating display in dynamic color change mode. Inside the bridge, halo lights are mounted on the ceiling, creating a striking 360-degree light portal as you cross. The project is unique among other projects in the region. All LED lighting schemes bring vitality to the space, creating a fun and vibrant environment for those who use it, while also helping to guide people in the Doorway Village area to find paths.
What sets this project apart is the way the lighting design enhances the spatial landscape. Lighting design has two functions – it creates a visually compelling display through the use of dynamic colors, and also creates a fully immersive experience for those who use the space. Most importantly, Nulty's lighting solutions achieve their goal of creating an unforgettable urban environment for commuters and local residents to visit and enjoy.
