In addition, the FOTA update also enhances other car experiences, such as power assistant, to help users search for charging facilities, and users can provide Bug feedback to Weilai through NOMI voice interaction.

The upgrade will be available to all NIO ES8s equipped with the Aspen 3.0.0 operating system, which is developed using the first-generation technology platform (NT1.0) and is available in both English and Norwegian for Norwegian users.

NIO is the first automobile brand in the world to achieve large-scale FOTA renewal through self-developed technology. So far, the electric car maker has released 184 new features and 382 improvements through FOTA.

NIO previously said it plans to launch its comprehensive product and service system in more European and North American countries, reaching 25 by 2025. Each regional version will be equipped with software and updates for the local language and market.

NIO will further expand the Western European market in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and other places in 2022. NIO has not yet disclosed its development plans in North America, but expects it to enter the markets of 25 countries by 2025, including the United States.

NIO, which already has a subsidiary in the U.S., last week signed a ten-year lease contract for a separate office building in San Jose, California, doubling its current U.S. headquarters footprint to about 18,600 square meters and will support NIO's technology research and development and digital development, testing, assembly, warehousing and operations.
