Overseas Network January 17 - Tokyo Electric Power Company originally planned to investigate the interior of the nuclear reactor containment of Unit 1 of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, but in the preparatory stage, it was suspended due to an unexpected technical failure. On the 17th, TEPCO responded to this.

According to the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK), TEPCO admitted at a press conference that on the day of the incident, the machine wrapped around the robot cable was likely to malfunction, and electromagnetic waves affected the system that transmits radiation data. For one of the cameras carried by the robot, the time cannot be displayed normally, and the specific reason has not been identified.

In order to remove the residues of nuclear fuel and other residues melted from the reactor core in Unit 1, TEPCO originally planned to start an investigation of the interior of the nuclear reactor containment shell from noon on the 12th, but only more than two hours later, and it was suspended in the preparatory stage. Due to the very high radiation inside the containment of Unit 1, TEPCO can only conduct investigations by dropping robots.

In the preparation stage, TEPCO found that the nuclear radiation measuring instrument built into the robot was difficult to accurately display the value, and one of the multiple cameras carried by the robot could not display the time normally. TEPCO said at the time that it had decided to suspend the investigation for safety reasons.
