On November 18, 1949, the 108th Regiment of the 36th Division of the 12th Army of the People's Liberation Army came to Lijiawan east of the Wujiang River and prepared to cross the Wujiang River.
If the whole regiment cannot cross the Wujiang River as soon as possible and open a passage for the whole army to advance into the southwest, then the Kuomintang Song Xilian troops will rely on the natural dangers of the Wujiang River to stubbornly resist and sabotage the process of our army's liberation of the southwest.
At present, Song Xilian has already sent heavy troops along the Wujiang River to hold on to the danger, and only the defense around Lijiawan is relatively weak, and it is also the most ideal entry point for our army to break through the natural dangers of the Wujiang River.
However, if the 108th Regiment wants to complete the task of forcibly crossing the Wu River, there are still huge difficulties.

First of all, the water of the Wu river is turbulent, and it is difficult for the warriors to wade in vain.
Second, the enemy has taken all the boats that can be found in this area, in order to make it impossible for the Platon Toma to cross the river.
Moreover, there was a whole regiment of enemy troops stationed opposite Lijiawan, and it was equipped with light and heavy machine guns, which could be used to firmly block the river surface with firepower.
For the regimental commander Yu Fukun, there was only one alternative action plan left, that is, to select a few warriors with good water characteristics from the commanders and fighters of the whole regiment, take advantage of the enemy's unpreparedness to cross the river, and look for an opportunity to snatch one or two boats from the enemy's hands and return, so that the whole regiment could sail across the river.
There is no way, the task is too urgent, the time is too rushed, can only go all out!
Without further ado, Yu Fukun and the regimental battalion cadres quickly determined a plan for crossing the river: the most important task of splashing water and seizing ships was entrusted to the 3rd battalion, while the 1st and 2nd battalions bluffed and contained the enemy in the upper and lower reaches of Wangjiawan, respectively.
Just as the people were finalizing this plan, the scouts brought another piece of good news: the enemy on the other side of Wangjiawan had not yet discovered our army's intentions, and had placed three small boats at the ferry port on the opposite bank, and the ships were unattended.
Yu Fukun was overjoyed and waved his hand: "Heavenly opportunity, act now!" ”
After screening more than 300 commanders and fighters of the three battalions one by one, the warriors who finally stood out were Hong Youchang, Cheng Yide, Shi Shixi, Zhu Jiahao, Jin Zhong, and seven others.
At this time, it was the cold winter season, the river wind was cold, the river was gushing, coupled with the thick fog, the visibility of the river surface was very low, but the seven warriors faced all this without fear, and divided into two groups and began to cross the Wu River.
What is sad is that the first group was unfavorable, and hong youchang, Cheng Yide and other four warriors did not swim far before they were swept away by the torrent, and soon disappeared without a trace, and there was no news from then on.
The emergence of this situation is undoubtedly a huge challenge to the three warriors of the second group, Zhu Jiahao, Jin Zhong, and Shi Shixi. But they did not deter themselves, but made up their minds to make sure they were successful.
Because the warriors all knew in their hearts that now they were the three people with the best water quality in the whole regiment, if they also failed, it would affect the whole regiment's river crossing plan and even the combat tasks of the whole army!
Yu Fukun's heart was even more anxious, the vast majority of the commanders and fighters of the whole regiment were northerners, and I was afraid that there would be no better candidate, so he could only hope for these three warriors.
Under the gaze of Yu Fukun and the soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, Zhu Jiahao, Jin Zhong, Shi Shixi and other three warriors jumped into the cold and bone-chilling river without hesitation, and rowed to the opposite bank little by little.
Because the fog on the river was too large, the three warriors quickly disappeared from the sight of Yu Fukun and others. They can't do anything but wait quietly, wait...
After a while, there was a sudden burst of gunfire in the thick fog, Yu Fukun and the others were uncertain, they didn't know what the situation was on the other side, everyone had a heart hanging, and every second seemed to be as long as the usual hour...
After a while, the gunfire continued, but the joy was that someone was vaguely rocking a small boat from the gushing river and the vast white fog to the east bank!
"The ship was captured!" The capture of the ship was successful..." The crowd cheered.
As the boat approached, everyone saw that shi Shixi was the only one on the boat.
In the process of the three people crossing, Jin Zhong and the Zhu family were not fortunate enough to be swept away by the torrent.
At this time, Shi Shixi became the only hope of the commanders and fighters of the whole regiment, and the heavy burden of a thousand pounds was pressed on his shoulders.
Success or failure in this move, there is no way back!
What is heartening is that Shi Shixi lived up to expectations, and with his super mental and physical qualities, he heroically crossed to the ferry port on the other side, braving the rain of bullets and bullets to retake a small boat from the hands of the enemy.
The process is so thrilling that it pales into any language.
Yu Fukun finally let go of the big stone in his heart, he tightly held Shi Shixi's hand, and said excitedly: "Great! That's great! You made a great contribution and saved the whole regiment! ”
Subsequently, the commanders and fighters of the 108th Regiment used the small boat that Shi Shixi had recaptured, and in accordance with the plan of forced crossing that had already been formulated, crossed the Wu River in batches and recaptured a number of ships from the enemy's hands, thus creating the most important conditions for the follow-up main forces to complete the task of crossing the river and liberate the great southwest.
It is worth mentioning that Shi Shixi lived up to expectations and successfully captured the ship at a critical moment, which also contributed to a coincidence in military history:
In 1935, Liu Bocheng led the advance troops of the Red Army to break through the natural danger of Wujiang, which was highly expected by Chiang Kai-shek, so that the Red Army could drive straight into Zunyi and rewrite the history of the Chinese revolution!
In 1949, the 108th Regiment of the 36th Division of the 12th Army under Liu Bocheng's command once again served as the advance unit of the entire Second Field Army, and successfully crossed the Wujiang River, allowing the Erye Army to advance to the entire southwest!
From this point of view, Shi Shixi, a warrior, has undoubtedly carved a glorious mark in military history.
