11/12 generation Core + Win11 block 4K Blu-ray disc Playback software manufacturers respond: powerless

At present, are there any friends who are keen to collect Blu-ray Discs?

A few days ago, we reported that Intel 11th generation Core (Rocket Lake) and 12th generation Core (Alder Lake) quietly abandoned the support for SGX software protection extension instructions, so that they can no longer play genuine UHD Blu-ray discs.

On the official website, PowerDVD developer CyberLink responded that they can't do anything about it, after all, the DRM mechanism has the right to speak in the Blu-ray Alliance.

CyberLink further confirmed that not only the processor, but also the companion motherboard BIOS, Intel drivers and Windows 11 systems have killed UHD Blu-ray Discs.

CyberLink's current advice is that if your platform (7th to 10th generation Core i series) can still play UHD Blu-ray Disc normally, then it is best not to update intel chipset related drivers or upgrade the Win11 system to be complete.

Playing genuine (with DRM protection) UHD Blu-ray Discs on a PC platform requires very demanding conditions, including intel processors that support SGX, motherboards and core displays, and can only be played using PowerDVD playback software. In fact, the AMD platform and N card are not eligible for playback.

Although the official did not indicate the reason, but in fact can also guess a rough, although the UHD Blu-ray is being replaced by online digital content, but even if it is a physical disc, most enthusiasts still use Blu-ray players with 4K HDR color TVs or projection equipment to see, the use of PCs is indeed a minority.
