Cole: It was necessary for us to trade Russell for Wiggins and we had Curry

Live Bar Jan. 17, 9 a.m. Today, the Warriors will challenge the Timberwolves. Warriors coach Kerr gave a media interview before the game.

In the summer of 2020, the Warriors sent Russell, Spelman and Jacob Evans from the Timberwolves to Wiggins, the top 3 protected first-round picks in the 2021 first round, and the 2021 second-round pick.

When asked to review the deal again, Kerr said it was a deal for the Warriors that was absolutely demand-driven, as the Warriors desperately needed to raise the height of the flanks. Kerr also said that because the team has Curry, the demand for Russell has decreased.

So far this season, Wiggins has played in 38 games for the Warriors, averaging 31.4 minutes per game, 18.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks, and shooting 42.5% from three-point range.

Russell played in 32 games for the Timberwolves, averaging 33 minutes per game, 19 points, 3.7 rebounds, 7 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks, shooting 35.5 percent from three-point range.
