After verification by the Thai police, the deceased was Liao Mou, a 33-year-old Chinese Guangdong woman, and the murderer was her "husband" Lu Mou, a Taiwanese national. From September 22 to 23, the Chonburi Court in Thailand held its third hearing on the case, and witnesses from the domestic plaintiff appeared in Guangzhou by remote video to testify.

Zhang Hongyuan, a lawyer's assistant to the family of the victim Liao and the general manager of the International Law Firm of Nietzsche in Thailand, told the Red Star News reporter that a total of 6 witnesses in the trial "appeared in court" in the form of video to tell the experience of being defrauded by the defendant Lu Mou, and how Lu Mou pretended that the deceased sent messages with friends in China after the deceased was killed. ”

Case Progress:

Cross-border online hearings will be held for 2 consecutive days

Six domestic witnesses testified

Through the search for relevant information, Red Star News reporters found that the case was tried in thailand's Chonburi court in September last year. In court, the judge read out the prosecution's indictment to defendant Lu, namely, the deliberate killing of the Thai criminal law 289(4)(5) by cruel means and the destruction of the body under article 199 of the criminal law. As well as reading out the civil compensation claim of 20.6 million baht (about 4.5 million yuan) against the defendant by the family of the victim Liao. But Lu insisted that he had no intention of killing the victim and did not admit to deliberately killing people by cruel means.

In May, Thailand's Chunvuli Provincial Court held another hearing on the case. The witness who testified this time was an autopsy doctor, who proved that the deceased Liao was strangled alive by a rope, and believed that the death process of the deceased was very painful. During the trial, the defendant's lawyer learned of these facts and persuaded the defendant Lu to admit that the prosecutor had prosecuted him for the crime of deliberate murder, but Lu had no remorse, still denied the deliberate killing, and continued to defend in the direction of accidentally injuring the deceased to death.

On September 22 and 23, the Chonburi court in Thailand held its third hearing on the case, and conducted a cross-border connection, allowing six domestic witnesses to testify online. It is understood that at the scene of the trial of the Chonburi Court, there were judges, clerks, lawyers of the defendants, procurators, and lawyers representing the victims' families. And the defendant Lu also appeared in prison in the form of a video, and the court interpreter in Bangkok through video translation.

"This kind of criminal trial method is extremely rare in Thailand, and the Chonburi Court is the first time that the Chonburi Court has used this method to try cases across borders, and the electronic facilities are temporary, and the signal is broken 3-4 times, which seriously affects the trial process of the case." Zhang Hongyuan, a paralegal to the family of the victim Liao and general manager of The International Law Firm of Nietzsche in Thailand, told Red Star News that a total of 6 witnesses "appeared in court" to testify in the form of video.

Zhang Hongyuan said that 6 domestic witnesses testified online for two consecutive days, two of whom told their experience of being defrauded by Lu Mou; another witness detailed how the deceased knew the defendant, as well as how the defendant deceived and used it, and how he realized that the other party was a liar. At the same time, the witness also detailed how the defendant continued to pretend to be the deceased after the deceased was killed, how the defendant himself deceived the deceased's mother, how the witness found the deceased's body in Thailand through friends, and how the defendant stole the deceased's money from the deceased's mobile phone after killing the deceased.

"Before the trial, the defendant's lawyer had asked to talk to the defendant alone for more than 10 minutes, and after the first witness appeared in court to testify, the defendant's lawyer again asked to talk to the defendant alone, and the judge agreed." Zhang Hongyuan told Red Star News that they later learned that the defendant's lawyer asked the defendant to verify the situation described by the witness and questioned the witness, "This kind of behavior was originally against the norm, but the judge made an exception based on humanity and gave the defendant an exception to discuss defense countermeasures with his lawyer." ”

In addition, Zhang Hongyuan also told reporters that after the mother of the deceased Liao mou and her girlfriend Miss Xu on the 23rd, as well as Mr. Jiang, who found the deceased and reported that Lu had major suspicions, the trial was all over. The next fourth hearing will be the officer in charge of the case to testify, "and then the judge will ask the defendant to appear in court." ”

Case Review:

After the woman was killed by her "husband"

They were loaded in suitcases and thrown away on the surface of the sea

On January 10, 2020, a black suitcase appeared on the beach of Ban in Chonburi Province, Thailand, containing a female corpse with her hands and feet tied and her body curled up. After investigation by the Thai police, it was found that the deceased was a 33-year-old Chinese Guangdong woman Liao Mou, who was wearing a shirt at the time of death, wearing black shorts on the lower body, and tattoos engraved on the feet. According to a preliminary forensic determination, the deceased did not have any wounds on his body and was strangled by someone strangled to death.

Later, after being reported and the Thai police investigated a tool store in a shopping mall, it was believed that Liao's "husband" Lu was suspected of committing a crime, because he had previously come to the store to buy rope, tape, bags and other crime items. Soon, thai police arrested Lu in a room on the 3rd floor of an apartment in Chonburi Province on charges of "deliberately killing others and attempting to destroy their bodies."

After Being Arrested, Lu confessed that the two had a quarrel over business and the naturalization of their children, and he strangled his wife in a fit of anger. After that, he wrapped his wife's facial features with tape, tied her hands and feet, and put them in a suitcase. Finally, the box was transported to the sea by car, a boat was rented, and the box was thrown into the sea by hand.

According to pear video news, after Liao was killed, Lu also used Liao's mobile phone to contact Liao's parents, and posted photos of wanting to leave for Taiwan in Liao's WeChat circle of friends. Because they found that the other party used traditional characters for chatting, Liao's parents felt that the person who used their daughter's mobile phone was not Liao himself, so they asked Lu to take a photo with his daughter and grandson and send it to them. In the photo sent by Lu, Liao's parents found that Taiwan was already in winter at that time, but her daughter was still wearing short sleeves, and she felt that Lu was lying. It was not until they saw the media reports that they learned and confirmed that their daughter Liao had been killed.

According to the "Guangzhou Daily" report, Liao's friend said that Liao and Lu were connected by the Internet in early 2018, and Lu claimed to be doing business in Thailand and had two villas in the local area. After the two got along for about 1 year, Liao became pregnant, so she and Lu married in Thailand. But Liao's family and friends are not optimistic about this relationship. They believe that everything about Lu is "too good", giving people the feeling of not being real, and living far away, everyone does not understand him, afraid that Liao will be deceived by the other party.

Liao's friend also said that Lu had borrowed a lot of money from Liao and also applied for credit cards and loans in the woman's name. After the birth of the child, Liao gradually became suspicious of Lu, so he returned to China after sitting in confinement. During the period, Lu used his children to blackmail Liao many times. In the end, Liao returned to Thailand because he was reluctant to have children, but he never came back. And after the incident, Liao's friends had checked the marriage certificates of Liao and Lu, but they could not find it, and they suspected that the documents were fraudulent by Lu.
