The two countries fought over an island, and halfway through the fight, they suddenly remembered that the island belonged to China

Speaking of the Qing Dynasty, we may think of those Film and Television Dramas with the theme of the Qing Palace, but for more people, the weakness of that time is the most profound memory. In the late Qing Dynasty, the faint decay of the Qing court made the society at that time a place of people's livelihood, and the cowardice of the royal family eventually led to the status of a weak country. And this situation also led to the outbreak of war between the two countries for an island, and only halfway through the fight did they suddenly remember: the island is Chinese, which is really ridiculous.

To the east of the mouth of the Heilongjiang River in China, there is an island called Sakhalin Island, which is a land that we first discovered. In the Western Han Dynasty's "Classic of Mountains and Seas", there is a record of "hairy people on the sea continent", and it describes the Fyaka people, the indigenous people of Sakhalin Island at that time.

In 725, the Tang Dynasty established Heishui Province in the lower reaches of the Heilongjiang River to administer this area, including Sakhalin Island, which is well documented in the History of East Asia. In the Book of the Later Han Dynasty, Sakhalin Island is called the "Female Kingdom", and it is recorded in the New Book of Tang and the Tongdian as the "Wandering Ghost Island".

In the 10th century, the Liao Dynasty set up the Five Kingdoms Ministry to govern Sakhalin Island, and in the 12th century, it was ruled by the Jin Dynasty. In 1246, Kublai Khan, the ancestor of the Yuan Dynasty, sent an army to conquer the bone crests of the island, and in 1308 he took it under his command. After the fall of the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty set up a command envoy in 1409, and Sakhalin Island was incorporated into the Ming Dynasty. In 1689, the Qing Dynasty and Tsarist Russia signed the Treaty of Nebuchu, which recognized all of our possessions on Sakhalin Island, which has belonged to our country for more than 1,000 years.

However, for Sakhalin Island, Japan and Russia have always had a very strong possessive desire in their hearts, only because the island has very rich resources, including oil, coal and gold. From 1295 onwards, Japan had been a missionary to Sakhalin Island, and it was only in 1645 that the Russians first saw the island. Such a treasure island with an excellent strategic location immediately caused contradictions between the two countries, and both wanted to monopolize the island, which ignited a war for a while. But whenever they reached the halfway point, they suddenly thought that this was the place of administration of the Qing Dynasty in China, and they had to give up, because the Qing Dynasty was still relatively strong at that time.

In this way, under the oppression of the strong national strength in the first and middle periods of the Qing Dynasty, Sakhalin Island barely maintained a peaceful situation. But after the Qing Dynasty weakened, Tsarist Russia and Japan immediately became arrogant. In 1860, Tsarist Russia sent troops to take Sakhalin Island from the incompetent Qing Dynasty, and Japan was also red-eyed, and the garrison on the island immediately launched a fierce battle, which eventually formed a situation of north and south division.

In 1904, the Russo-Japanese War broke out, and the two countries fought over control of the Korean Peninsula, the Liaodong Peninsula, and Sakhalin Island. Prior to this, in 1875, Japan had signed a treaty with Tsarist Russia to abandon Sakhalin Island, and after this war, the defeated Russia could no longer control Sakhalin Island, and the Qing government was already at the end of the crossbow, so Japan succeeded. After the end of World War II in 1945, Japan became a defeated country. At this time, the Soviet Union also showed a tough attitude towards Sakhalin Island, and formally controlled it with 1951.

Today, Sakhalin Island has been renamed Sakhalin Island, a land that has belonged to our country for more than a thousand years, and finally left us because of the incompetence and inaction of the late Qing Dynasty. Just as the so-called "weak countries have no diplomacy", the stories that happened in the late Qing Dynasty are the best evidence given to us by history. No one will wait for you to become stronger, only if you continue to make progress upwards, you can have a powerful force that can defend sovereignty.
