During the battle, the 2 companies involved in the counterattack were also damaged, with casualties as high as 50 people, in the battle, Huang Huaren could not retreat due to his serious injuries, so he chose to die with the Japanese troops who rushed up, and finally pulled the grenade in his hand.
On July 6, 1944, the first general offensive of the Japanese army failed, the Japanese army suffered heavy casualties, had to retreat and reorganize, so on the 11th, the Japanese army once again captured Zhangjiashan, and then after our army fought bloodily, it was finally recaptured, and then at noon on the 12th, the Japanese army launched another attack, captured Zhangjiashan, our army resolutely and resolutely counterattacked, and finally successfully recaptured our position by fighting to the death. However, the Japanese army still did not give up, attacked again, and our position fell again. However, on the same night, 2 companies of the military engineer battalion launched a night attack and recaptured their positions for the third time.
After 18 days of bloody fighting, Zhangjiashan can be said to have accumulated blood all over the mountain, corpses were strewn all over the field, 2 regiments of the pre-10th Division were basically killed, and the officers and men of 7 formed companies were killed here. At the same time, the Japanese 133rd Wing also suffered heavy losses, it is understood that the 3200-man infantry company died 1229 people, basically crippled, 8 brigade leaders (including agents) were killed.
