Tesla's demand for partner law firms to fire lawyers has previously led to Musk being fined

[CNMO News] Tesla, as the world's most well-known electric vehicle manufacturer, can naturally reach cooperation with many companies a "beautiful errand". However, according to foreign media reports, Tesla's lawyers submitted a document to its partner Cooley LLP, asking him to fire a lawyer or lose Tesla's related business.

Tesla wants Curry to fire a lawyer who once worked for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Tesla and Musk's relationship with the agency has been strained. In 2018, Tesla was investigated by the SEC for the privatization of its equity, and the lawyer happened to be in the relevant investigation team at the time. Eventually, Musk and the SEC reached a settlement over the matter, with Musk paying a $20 million fine and stepping down as chairman of Tesla Motors. Musk also agreed to let Tesla lawyers review his tweets in advance on certain topics, including the company's financial results, sales figures and proposed business mergers.

However, Cooley did not agree to the request, and the lawyer is still one of the partners of the firm. In light of this, Tesla has replaced lawyers from Cooley's firm in several recent lawsuits, and another Musk company, SpaceX, has stopped using lawyers to participate in litigation or supervision. But so far, Tesla, SpaceX and Musk himself have all responded to the incident.
