Chip price increases can't stop me! PC shipments in 2021 will not decrease but increase

In a new report, IDC, a well-known statistical agency, estimated that global PC (desktop, notebook, workstation) shipments reached 348.8 million units in 2021, an increase of 14.8% year-on-year, the highest level since 2012.

If you compare the ten-year low (2017), the increase is 34%.

Note that statistics do not include PCs in the broad sense, such as tablets, 2-in-1 devices, x86 servers, etc.

In terms of manufacturers, the top four in the fourth quarter and the whole year are Lenovo, HP, Dell and Apple, of which Lenovo Group's annual shipments increased by 14.1% year-on-year, and Dell and Apple also performed well, with an increase of 17.9% and 22.1% respectively.

It is undeniable that the demand for home office, remote meetings, online courses and other needs has still boosted the growth of PC products in the past year, while the industry has also encountered the problem of lack of cores, and to a certain extent, the demand has not been fully released. However, as the situation improves on all sides, how long the momentum of the PC can be maintained still needs to be observed.
