Pandong jade industry has a long history, carving kitsch, complete types of three characteristics.

It has a long history
Pandong jade carving art originated at the end of the Qing Dynasty, represented by Yangmei jade jade carving, and has continued for more than 100 years. As early as the end of the Qing Dynasty, Some Yangmei villagers began to collect old jade from surrounding villages and towns for processing and restoration. In the early stage of reform and opening up, with the rapid development of the economy and the rapid increase in the number of employees, jade carving began to develop in the direction of "fine carving". In the 1990s, practitioners from Beijing, Henan and Fujian gradually joined the Jieyang jade carving team, and Pandong jade carving continued to be eclectic in terms of techniques, themes and types, and the integration of north and south, forming an artistic style of "Kit Kat And Exquisite". In the 1990s, Jieyang people began to purchase a large number of jadeite raw materials in Yunnan and Myanmar, and the scale of the industry continued to expand, forming an industrial belt with Yangmei, Qiao Nan and Qiao Xi as the core. Yangmei and Qiao Nan are mainly based on high-end jadeite processing and sales, and the area around Qiaoxi is mainly based on white jade carving sales.

Jieyang jade carving is complete, the shape design is exquisitely carved, whether from the large place, or from the subtlety of the carving, the craftsmanship is first-class. Yangmei jade jade carving has been included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list in 2008.
After generations of jade smiths' practice and development, Jieyang jade carving has formed an artistic style of "strange, ingenious, refined and special". Odd, refers to the full use of the natural texture color of jade, bold conception and creation, design peculiar; qiao, refers to the beautiful color carving, ingenious design; fine, refers to accurate calculation, elaborate design, seiko production, to see the big in the small, fine workmanship; special, refers to the use of special materials and tools, according to the material, unique labor. Jieyang jade carving draws on the traditional wood carving, stone carving, embroidery and other techniques of Chaoshan Province, such as Chao embroidery skillfully expressing the texture of objects and images and paying attention to the harmony of light and shadow. At the same time, it also draws on the essence of the jade carving techniques of the southern and northern schools to learn from each other's strengths. The jade carving "Jieyang Gong" is unique in the industry and enjoys a high reputation.
At present, Jieyang jade processing types are mainly jadeite, supplemented by white jade, jasper, agate, crystal and other materials, and the products cover more than 1,000 varieties in 3 categories of jewelry, ornaments and pendants, including various rings, bracelets, jade pendants, jade plates, gold inlaid jade, etc.
According to statistics, there are more than 8,000 jade production, design and processing enterprises and various types of jade jewelry stores in the city, with nearly 150,000 employees, including more than 6,000 jade carvers, in addition to a large number of various design, technology, management, marketing, appreciation and other professionals. There are dozens of people in Jieyang who have won the title of jade carving masters at all levels, and some of them also enjoy special allowances from the State Council.

Complete range
Compared with the simplicity of other domestic jade carving markets, such as Pingzhou and Sihui mainly do jadeite, Henan and Yangzhou mainly do white jade, jieyang's jade market has a characteristic, that is, Yangmei, Qiaoxi, Qiaonan three villages have formed an overall jadeite, white jade comprehensive market. Among them, Yangmei concentrates on jadeite, Josie focuses on white jade, and Qiao Nan does both.
Driven by the jadeite jewelry industry, white jade, jasper, crystal, agate, alxa jade, turquoise, amber and other jewelry color stones have flourished. Since 2002, Pandong has held the Jade (Instrument) Cultural Festival every year, and has successfully held 19 sessions until 2020. During the cultural festival, a series of activities such as jade fine art exhibitions, art exhibitions, jade public disks, and jade lecture halls attract jade merchants and tourists from all over the world, and the jade culture festival has become an important platform for promoting local tourism, displaying the development achievements of Jieyang, and promoting industry exchanges and cooperation.

In recent years, in order to break through the bottleneck of raw materials being controlled by people, Pandong has vigorously developed jade public disks. Now it has two major public plates of Jieyang (Yangmei) jade wool and Qiao Nan jade. Jieyang (Yangmei) jade wool public market has been held for 10 sessions from 2018 to 2021, covering an area of about 6500 square meters, which is held 3-4 times a year, with the characteristics of a large number of participants and high wool quality. Qiao Nan Jade Public Market started construction on August 12, 2020, covering an area of about 7,000 square meters, and successfully held the first jade public market from October 29 to November 1, 2020.
