It is understood that before and after the Qingming or white dew every year, the sand willow branches have the highest fiber content and the best flexibility, which is most suitable for cutting and weaving. Jingbian area is located in the southern edge of the Maowusu Desert, wind and sand invasion is serious, since ancient times there has been a tradition of planting sand plants to prevent wind and fix sand, protect the ecology, sand plants have played a very important role in the production and life of the people, in the wind and sand fixation at the same time, but also the people to make fire for heating, the preparation of production and living tools of important resources.
The Jingbian willow weaving industry has been around for a long time, dating back to the Qing Dynasty, when the county residents were good at using wicker to weave oil baskets, wine baskets, dustpans, baskets, sieves and so on. In the early days of the Republic of China, there were 3 basket weaving companies in the territory of Ningtiao Liang Town, which specialized in the distribution of willow weaving products. Since the 1970s, "Yasuki willow weaving" products have begun to be exported to the United States, Japan and other countries, and have been rewarded by the Ministry of Foreign Trade. In the 1980s, Jingbian willow weaving entered its heyday, willow weaving was popularized in the county, with more than 2,000 employees, an average annual net income of 1.63 million yuan, and more than 400 new willow weaving products, which were exported to more than 10 countries and regions such as Japan, the United States, France, West Germany, Sweden, and Poland. According to 1989 statistics, the county exported a total of 385,000 dozen willow weaving products that year, and willow weaving became the main economic source of willow weaving households. Since the beginning of this century, with the great abundance of international and domestic materials, the people everywhere are more favorable to all kinds of plastic products, steel products, willow weaving products consumer groups are decreasing year by year, the willow weaving industry in our county has suffered a heavy blow, once popular at home and abroad of the Jingbian willow weaving industry, gradually withdrew from the mainstream market, only a very small number of farmers are still weaving some willow baskets, dustpans, baskets and other daily necessities for their own use, willow weaving skills are almost facing loss, willow weaving industry is basically exhausted.
In order not to lose traditional skills, in recent years, under the attention of the Jingbian County Party Committee and the county government, the relevant departments of Jingbian County have organized willow weavers to go to Yulin, Xi'an and other places to participate in handicraft exhibitions and competitions, and won a number of awards.
In July 2016, the willow weaving products in our county participated in the first women's handicraft exhibition and performance competition held by the Jingbian County Women's Federation and won the "Silver Award"; in November, it participated in the Yulin Handicraft Innovation Exhibition and Competition and won the "Excellence Award".
In January 2017, the "willow weaving" of our county participated in the Exhibition of Craftsmen in Northern Shaanxi - Yulin City Arts and Crafts Industrialization Achievements Held by Yulin Municipal Government in LiangbaoLou, Xi'an and won the "Excellence Award".
In September 2017, the "Trilateral Willow Weaving" was announced by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture as the sixth batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Shaanxi Province.
At the same time, with the rapid development of Jingbian tourism, some willow weavers in Longzhou Town began to "reinvigorate" and weave some simple willow weaving crafts to be exhibited and sold in scenic spots, and the original ecological willow weaving products were favored by foreign tourists. Xiyuanze Village, Ningtiaoliang Town, Jingbian, was once a well-known willow weaving village, and there were many willow weaving experts, and after the County Discipline Inspection Commission Supervision Commission went to Xiyuanze Village to carry out assistance in the village, it based on the establishment and development of long-term industries, and successively held a "willow weaving competition" and a willow weaving skills training class to mobilize peasant households to "return to their old business" and develop the willow weaving industry.
"Jingbian willow weaving" has high academic value. "Jingbian willow weaving" is made of local materials, very characteristic of northern Shaanxi, has always been the main living instruments and production tools of the broad masses of the people, condensed the crystallization of the wisdom of the working people in Jingbian, is a living fossil of the agricultural civilization in northern Shaanxi, has a long history, durable, beautiful and practical, exquisite and exquisite, precise compilation, novel style, diversified compilation methods and other characteristics, has high economic value and research value.
