Hong Chao was born in Huangmei, Hubei Province, which is not only the birthplace of Huangmei opera, but also the famous "hometown of martial arts", he was poor when he was young, he lost his father at the age of 6, his mother remarried at the age of 9, and at a young age, he has tasted the pain of abandonment. At this point, he was dependent on his only grandmother. In order to support himself and his grandmother, he worked as a child laborer in a black-hearted factory and an apprentice to unscrupulous businessmen. Even so, he still has a strong will to survive, and in order to survive, he even became a beggar that everyone hated.
In fact, under the feudal society at that time, there were countless children who were as lonely and helpless as him, and they were like a drop in the ocean, unremarkable, and no one cared. But Hong Chao was not willing to do nothing all his life, being exploited by the powerful, letting others beat and scold, and letting others drive them away. As a teenager, he realized the distortions of this feudal society, and the life of the peasants was miserable, and every day was in the depths of the water. In order to change this distorted situation, at the age of 17, he settled his grandmother and did not hesitate to participate in the peasant movement in his hometown, but the early peasant movement was too hasty and immature, and was quickly swept away by the enemy. Just when Hong Chao's life was hanging on the line, the people sent by the organization to save him arrived in time, and Hong Chao escaped from death.

As the war intensified, Hong Chao's military talent gradually appeared, and he first entered the teaching team for training military cadres, and in just one year, he was eager to study like crazy. A year later, Hong Chao, who had achieved little success, participated in the Nanchang Uprising, the Guangzhou Uprising, and the Shonan Uprising. He was also quickly appreciated by General Zhu De, and followed the army to the Jinggangshan base area.
In the anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaign, Hong Chao's combat level was very outstanding, he dared to fight hard, was good at fighting, was flexible and mobile, and soon became a young military backbone. In 1932, when commanding the battle of Caotaigang, Hong Chao, as a platoon leader, always stood at the forefront, although he was brave and good at fighting, but it was difficult to fight with two fists and four hands, in the fierce and long sniper battle, he was still seriously injured, in order to avoid infection, his injured left arm was completely broken, becoming the most famous one-armed platoon leader in the Red Army. Since then, Hong Chao's reputation for courage and strategy has spread throughout the Jinggangshan base area, and Commander-in-Chief Zhu has personally ordered Hong Chao to serve as the commander of the division.

The commander of the division can command tens of thousands of soldiers, but this also means that the greater the ability, the greater the responsibility. In the first battle of the fifth anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaign, Hong Chao still rushed to the front line and fired the first shot of victory in the battle.
In October 1934, at the beginning of the Long March of the Red Army, the Kuomintang set up thousands of soldiers and horses to chase and block, a total of four lines of defense, the first of which was Chen Jitang, the commander-in-chief of the Guangdong Army, and the Red Army was unfortunately besieged. For now, only by finding a brave general as soon as possible can the enemy's encirclement be broken, and Commander-in-Chief Peng Dehuai immediately remembered Hong Chao, whose existence was like Zhao Zilong on Liu Bei's side.
After receiving this task, Hong Chao immediately rushed to the front line pass, and it is said that Chen Jitang was proud to boast that his blockade line was a copper wall and an iron wall, but Hong Chao led the army to appear and quickly beat them to pieces. In fact, this is an extremely difficult and hard battle, the enemy army is numerous and has an innate geographical advantage, and our army travels day and night, and the soldiers are already exhausted. But Hong Chao maintained a strong composure and clear thinking.
One morning, when the morning fog was thick, Hong Chao personally led a group of raiding soldiers to quickly seize a commanding height, snatched the enemy's weapons, and attacked them fiercely. At this point, the enemy's defense line was ripped open by Hong Chao's surprise attack. Then, Hong Chao quickly rushed to the most difficult stronghold to attack to command the battle, the situation was very difficult, the enemy was outnumbered, and the enemy surrounded a corps of only two hundred people. Hong Chao immediately made a decision and immediately ordered the only remaining pursuit cannon to explode a piece of life. However, at this moment, the enemy's countless shells came pouring in, coming towards the most stubborn stronghold of resistance, which was where Hong Chao was located, he dodged the first shell, but was dodged by the second, the stray bullet whizzed into Hong Chao's head, he was too badly injured and unfortunately died, and the Red Third Army was able to get out of trouble and successfully start the long march.
