The World Horticultural Exposition will be held in Almere, the Netherlands, from 14 April to 9 October 2022. At that time, the "China Bamboo Garden" jointly designed by Suzhou Garden Design Institute and Suzhou Agricultural Vocational and Technical College will become a representative work of overseas innovation of Suzhou Garden.
Professor Zhou Jun, vice president of Suzhou Agricultural Vocational and Technical College, introduced that bamboo resources are very rich, and flower resources are also very rich, and China also has such praise as "the mother of the world's gardens". The designers want to organically integrate bamboo, plants and flowers, and let the flowers and bamboos organically integrate to show a beautiful Chinese national exhibition garden.
"China Bamboo Garden" is located on the north side of the main passage of the Netherlands World Horticultural Exhibition Park, with an area of 4,200 square meters. The design plan comprehensively considers the elements of natural ecology, history and culture, innovation demonstration, interactive participation, garden recreation, science popularization and other elements, on the basis of completely retaining the existing trees, with bamboo and traditional Chinese flowers as the characteristics, to build three theme zones of bamboo forest Tingtao Area, Characteristic Flower Display Area and Fine Bamboo Courtyard Area, integrating 6 theme scenes such as "Book of China", "Bamboo Bridge Moon Shadow", "Silk Bamboo Yayin", "Jiuzhou Hundred Flowers", "Xishang Bamboo Courtyard" and "Wuzhu Hermitage". The 233 species of plants native to China in the park will present different landscape effects according to the changes of the seasons, showing the world a three-dimensional Chinese painting of "flowers and bamboo symbiosis".
He Fengchun, chairman of Suzhou Garden Design Institute Co., Ltd., introduced that through immersive activities and interactive tour installations, such as music bridges and night performances, the exhibitions of Chinese Kunqu opera, Pingtan and Chinese calligraphy art are expressed together.
