Xu Haidong, born in 1900 in Huangpi, Hubei Province, his family was poor, the kiln worker was born, did not go to school for a day, but he was known as the Xu Tiger on the battlefield, the reason is that he never had any reservations in fighting, every time he tried his best, he raised a large knife on the battlefield and slashed, without any worries, so that the enemy troops who fought with him would be terrified as long as they heard his name, and his prestige was thunderous wherever he was, but this also made him suffer many retaliations from the Kuomintang, in order to catch him. All 66 members of his family were killed by the enemy army, which was extremely cruel.

Single-mindedly for the sake of war, indifferent to fame and fortune
Xu Haidong is highly qualified and capable, but he takes fame and fortune very lightly, and during the Red Army period, he gave way to others twice and was highly respected. In 1931, he took up an important post and was seriously injured in the second "anti-encirclement and suppression" and received a long period of treatment in the hospital, and he was seriously injured and could not continue to command the battle, but the war was imminent, and it could not be delayed, so the superior sent a person to replace him as the commander of the regiment, so that it was convenient to continue to fight, but soon after taking office, Xu Haidong, who had just improved his health, returned to the army, and just when the superiors were difficult to choose, Xu Haidong took the initiative to request that as long as he continued to fight, he was willing to serve as the deputy regimental commander.
In 1934, the superior sent an experienced person to assist Xu Haidong in battle, Xu Haidong took the initiative to let Xian, proposed that this person take the position of military commander, himself as deputy commander, the superior thought that if he did this, it would be too wronged by this fierce general, and it was really not like words, where should his majesty be put, but these Xu Haidong did not care, he thought that this person's revolutionary struggle experience was richer than his, completely fine, and he could learn from him as deputy commander. Xu Haidong is such a person who is indifferent to fame and fortune, as long as he can fight, everything else does not matter to him.
Solve the urgent need and advance and retreat with the party
In 1935, the Red Army entered the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region after hardships, but at this time it was a cold winter season, and the problem of food and clothing in the troops was difficult to solve, so Mao Zedong wrote an IOU to Xu Haidong, hoping that he could borrow 2500 yuan from the central government to solve the current problem of eating and wearing the Red Army. Later, Xu Haidong worked with them to break through Chiang Kai-shek's encirclement and suppression and made great contributions to taking root in northern Shaanxi.
In the Battle of Pingxingguan, Xu Haidong served as the brigade commander of the 115th Division, he led the troops to march to North China, fought against the Japanese army, his strong command and the bloody battle of the soldiers, in the joint efforts of the next day to destroy more than a thousand enemy troops, and then tossed and turned, day and night, fell due to fatigue. After the outbreak of the Xi'an Incident in 1936, Xu Haidong asked for orders to go to Xi'an to provide support, and he arrived before the enemy army overnight, taking strong precautions, so that the Xi'an Incident could be resolved peacefully. In the war activities in which he participated, he won great victories, of which he contributed to it.
He was rated as a general, second only to Su Yu
Xu Haidong led the army to fight repeatedly and won many battles, he fought for ten years, nine times he was seriously injured, there were 17 scars on his body, and eight bullets passed through the hall, but also because of the long-term battle, he was overtired, in 1940 he fell ill on the battlefield of eastern Anhui, and his lung function was basically lost, resulting in his subsequent 30 years, most of which were spent in hospital beds, in order to recuperate, he missed the liberation war. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of great general, ranking only after Su Yu, who was recuperating in a hospital bed, he learned the news, sitting in peace, because he did not lead the army to fight for ten years, he felt that he did not make any contribution to the party after falling ill, he could not afford such a rank, he repeatedly asked his superiors for demotion, but they were rejected, the state has always given him full recognition of his efforts, this rank he can fully afford.
Xu Haidong fought countless battles in his lifetime, he played a Chinese of prestige in the war, his existence made the enemy army grit its teeth but was helpless to help him, although he was seriously injured, he was not afraid, with strength to prove the heroism of Chinese soldiers, he was prestigious, so that the enemy army was frightened, he fled without a fight, he was a great hero of the country, an outstanding proletarian revolutionary, a military expert.
