In the next 3 years, Song Xuewen went in and out of the operating table countless times, and the phrase "where the lesion was cut" became the key word during his treatment in the hospital.
First, the fate changed by the "key chain"
In 1977, Song Xuewen was born in Ailin Village, Songjiang Town, Jiaohe County (abolished in 1989 to establish Jiaohe City), with a very ordinary family and honest parents. Although their parents did not receive much education, and the local education resources at that time were not good, their parents knew that in the new era, reading was a good way out, so they let Song Xuewen read as much as possible.
In October 1994, Song Wenwen, who successfully finished high school, passed the application and entered the Jilin Group Construction Company as a pipeline worker. Don't look at the time he was only 17 years old, but he was never sloppy about his work. After his ingenuity was discovered by the leader, he was soon appointed as the team leader.
Although the group leader is young, he has a lot of management skills, and the elders who are the same age as his parents also admire him, so the group work is always done well. Song Xuewen had a very good academic performance when he was studying, and he especially liked to read and write. After joining the work, he did not forget his hobbies, and he would insist on writing some prose works on weekdays, sending them to newspapers or publishing houses, and also won awards.
At the same time, since Song Xuewen went to the company, the propaganda draft of the radio station has never been worried about the webmaster, and he can deliver the manuscript on time every time and write it well. Although he likes literature, he is not limited to literary creation, but also has a sports talent, especially good at long-distance running.

At about seven o'clock in the morning of January 5, 1996, before yesterday's night had completely faded, Song Xuewen had to leave the warm bed to prepare for work. From the company dormitory to the work station, the distance is not very far, but because the weather is too cold, the time is still early, there are few pedestrians, it seems that this road is a bit lonely.
He walks this road every day to and from work, and when he is bored, he can't help but look everywhere. And when he walked to the company's No. 4 cracking furnace, he really found something special. From afar, he saw something on the snow, reflecting the light against the white and thick snow.
Out of curiosity, Song Xuewen went straight to check and found that it was a metal chain, which seemed to be a "key chain". He instinctively picked up the chain and asked the people around him if they had lost the "key chain", but got no answer. Because he had to go to work, Song Xuewen casually kicked the "key chain" into the pocket of his right pants, thinking of waiting until he was free or during his lunch break, asking if it was a colleague of the company.
Obviously, this is his desire to help out of kindness, which is a good thing for good people. I just never expected that a simple act of kindness would plunge me into the abyss.
After carrying the chain into his trouser pocket, Song Xuewen went to work as usual. However, after only two hours, Song Xuewen began to feel dizzy, nauseous, and uncomfortable. At first, he thought it was a cold, but he thought about insisting on it and waiting for the noon lunch break to see a doctor.
However, from dizziness and nausea to weakness and vomiting, he took a leave of absence from the leader and returned to the company dormitory with difficulty. After lying on the bed, he still did not get better, but he vomited more often and his consciousness began to blur. Song Xuewen realized that it was not good, so he asked the duty officer to send a distress signal to the unit.
Subsequently, with the help of the staff on duty, Song Xuewen was sent to the hospital. Because he had never received a victim of nuclear radiation before, the hospital doctors did not think much about it at all, but gave him some simple treatment after judging the symptoms that appeared on his body. But all these treatment methods did not make Song Xuewen's state improve, but became more and more serious, and he once fell into a coma...
II. The "First Man" Victimized by Nuclear Radiation in New China
The doctor looked at Song Xuewen's state and was also anxious, but in the end, because he had no experience, there was nothing he could do. It was not until after 5 p.m. that the company's leaders heard about the incident and rushed to the hospital, and after inquiring about the condition, asked Song Xuewen whether he had picked up a "metal chain", and got a positive answer, the mystery was revealed.
After hearing the answer of "yes", the leader who came to visit him frowned and hurriedly beckoned the people in the ward to leave. What's so strange about a chain? In their company, have the leaders rushed to drive out the people who visited the patients? And what can this chain have to do with Song Xuewen's physical discomfort?

For a while, everyone had doubts in their hearts, and all kinds of speculations kept coming to mind.
It turned out that the metal chain was not made of ordinary metal, and the thing the size of a matchhead on the chain was "Nuclear Radioactive Material-192". Therefore, the company leaders let the people in the ward leave, in fact, to protect everyone's personal safety. Because song Xuewen's sudden discomfort in his body, and the various symptoms that accompanied it, all originated from this substance.
It is reported that the chain was originally a thing in a ray flaw detection operation of Jihua Group. Although the operation is huge, it is not the first time for the group, so as long as it is operated in accordance with the rules and regulations, the possibility of problems in the construction work is minimal in the absence of force majeure factors.
But who knows that the problem appeared on the operator, because it did not operate according to the process, so that the radioactive source and the working container fell off and left behind on the construction site. Coincidentally, Song Xuewen saw it on the way to work, and then carried it into his pants pocket, and it took only 10 hours before and after, which caused a huge change in the body.
Due to the limited local treatment conditions and the fact that there had never been relevant experience, the company hastily transferred Song Xuewen to Beijing 307 Hospital. The hospital was the only one in our country at that time that had a radiation treatment center.
It is reported that the amount of radiation that the human body can generally accept cannot be higher than 0.5Gy, but the radiation dose that the chain brings to Song Xuewen's whole body is as high as 2.9Gy. Due to its closest proximity to the radiation source, its absorption has reached 3738Gy. So, although Song Xuewen was rushed to Beijing, his right leg was already two or three times swollen by the time he was admitted to the hospital, and his skin was full of blisters.
In the 307 Hospital, in order to treat Song Xuewen, the doctors have held countless diagnostic meetings. However, due to his exposure to radiation sources for too long, how his body will change in the future cannot be predicted by even experienced doctors.
The onset of sequelae can take hours, days, years, or decades later. So on the days when the 307 hospital was treated, the doctor could only observe it in real time. And in order to prevent spread, the treatment method of cutting off once it is found which troop is starting to lesion.

In the past three years, Song Xuewen has undergone countless surgeries, large and small, amputated his legs high, his left forearm has disappeared, his right hand is still intact except for his middle finger, and other joints have also been amputated. Although he saved his life for the time being, no one knew whether the bad news would come again.
In the autumn of 1998, Song Xuewen dragged a disabled body of only about 50 kilograms back to Jilin. At that time, he could not return to work, and the unit gave him a dormitory of more than ten square meters to live in, and paid him a subsidy of more than 800 yuan per month on time. At the same time, the unit is also actively cooperating with the matter of compensation.
In 2000, the country's first nuclear radiation case was heard in the Jilin Higher People's Court, and the final judgment was that Jihua Group needed to pay Song Xuewen more than 480,000 yuan in compensation (before Song Xuewen had all the treatment costs, the company had fully borne).
480,000 is also a huge amount of money for most people today, let alone the beginning of the 21st century. But in contrast, Song Xuewen prefers to have a healthy body...
Perhaps, as Song Xuewen believed, God closed a door for you, and will definitely open a window for you in another place, although he suffered such a change at a young age, but also gave him a love that he once dared not expect: love like sunshine.

He had also wondered, does such a self have the right to harvest love? What if the future physical changes are bad? But after getting along, the firmness of his girlfriend Yang Guang made him completely dispel his worries. Later, the two were licensed to marry, and they were also happy in 2015.
At first, they were also afraid that their children would be affected and would be born differently from others. But fortunately, all the tests Yang Guang received during his pregnancy indicated that everything was normal.
I thought that such a life would continue forever, but I didn't know that the god of death eventually went to Song Xuewen.
In July 2017, he suddenly felt unwell and subsequently vomited blood. After examination, his body had a variety of complications: cirrhosis, diabetes, radiation cataracts...
On April 23, 2019, Song Xuewen, the first victim of nuclear radiation in New China, permanently closed his eyes at the age of 42.
