Since 2008, developers have accumulated more than $260 billion in app store revenue

Earlier last year, Apple revealed that the cumulative revenue of iOS game developers has exceeded $200 billion, which means that in the past 12 months, developers have earned about $60 billion in revenue on the App Store.

Apple said that in 2021, "App Store developer revenue set a new annual record." From Christmas Eve 2021 to new Chinese New Year's Eve, global consumer spending on the App Store saw double-digit percentage year-over-year growth – at $1.8 billion for the same period in 2020.

At the same time, app downloads on the App Store have also maintained a growing trend. According to App Annie, a mobile app market research firm, the total number of mobile games and non-gaming apps in the App Store reached about 40 billion times last year.

Apple highlighted the success of its game subscription service Apple Arcade: After a significant expansion of its lineup in 2021, Apple Arcade has now offered more than 200 games to subscribers. In addition, Apple mentioned F2P games such as Among Us, Roblox and Call of Duty mobile games in its official press release, as well as the successes of Minecraft, Stardew Grain Language, and Balloon Tower Defense 6 over the past year.

According to Apple, in-game activities have also driven an increase in player spending: in 2021, mobile games such as Pokémon Go, Mario Kart Tour, and Clash Royale have organized a large number of in-game events.

It is also worth mentioning that not long ago, Apple's stock price rose to $182.88 per share, and its market value exceeded $3 trillion, becoming the first company in history to reach this milestone.
