The Bundesliga is one of Europe's top leagues, so many of the world's top players love to play here week after week. Whether it's an exciting young defender, a maturing organizational core, or the best striker on the continent, the German top flight has it all. With more than halfway through the Bundesliga this season, which players have impressed?
Goalkeeper: Korbel (Borussia Dortmund)
While Borussia Dortmund will never be defined as a defensive team with a tedious attack, the newly signed Kerber has brought some much-needed stability to the Bundesliga giants. Rozer's side will certainly invest some money in defence in January, but they will be happy to sign the former Stuttgart goalkeeper ahead of this season.
Right wing-back: Meunier (Borussia Dortmund)
While Meunier was one of Dortmund's most obscure players last season, the Belgian defender has rebounded this season as the club's fixture on the right. So far this season, Meunier has scored four assists in all competitions – including in the focus battle against Bayer Leverkusen and Berlin – as well as numerous dribblings and crosses, and he has tumbled up and down the right wing as if no opponent could stop him.
Centre-back: Schlotterbeck (Freiburg)
While Freiburg may not be the most recognizable club in German football, they are undoubtedly one of the most impressive clubs in the Bundesliga this season. With Streishi's side vying for a Place in the Champions League, Freiburg have built up a solid defensive line. The dark horse team has the best defensive performance in the league, with young centre-back Niko Schlotbeck at their core.
Centre-back: Lucas Hernandez (Bayern Munich)
Not so long ago, Lucas Hernandez's days at Bayern looked rather troublesome. The Frenchman is simply not agile enough to be a modern defender and is struggling to find a solid spot in the German giants. However, with the departure of David Alaba and Boateng, Hernandez has taken himself to the next level, not only becoming Bayern's best centre-back, but also becoming one of the new leaders of their team. So far this season, he has been one of the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga.
Left-back: Alfonso Davies (Bayern Munich)
Few players in the world are as good at left-back as Bayern Munich defender Alfonso Davies. Six assists in the first half of the season prove that Davis is a speed maniac who can easily steer the ball in front of opposing midfielders and defenders with relative ease, usually running alone on the flanks before delivering assists to his teammates. In the Bundesliga, or in European football as a whole, there is no left-back who can match it.
Midfielder: Sane (Bayern Munich)
Last season, Sane looked far from fully recovering, and in Flick's Bayern squad he was basically struggling. This time, however, Nagelsman changed the way players played, making himself more like a no. 10 player, which worked wonders. From 17 Bundesliga games to now, Sane has scored five goals and five assists and is bayern's biggest player in the season. He will prove to be the spark that will help the team move forward in the Champions League.
Midfielder: Wertz (Bayer Leverkusen)
The only word that can be used to describe the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder this season is "phenomenon" as the young German genius dominates almost every game he has played. After going through the club's youth squad last season, Wiltz has become a key player for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring five goals and assisting eight times in 15 games to secure a top four spot for the club.
Midfielder: Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund)
Another exciting young midfielder playing in the Bundesliga is former Birmingham star Bellingham, a regular starter for Borussia Dortmund. Bellingham resembles the classic No. 8 player's style, excelling in blocking the opposing attack and in organizing the defensive line. Sky seems to be the limit of the young midfielder, who after this season will develop into a top talent in the Bundesliga.
Forward: Haaland (Borussia Dortmund)
At the point of scoring, there is very little to say about Haaland. The Dortmund striker has scored 13 goals and five assists in 11 league games this season, which is simply incredible. While the European football community is still debating where he's going next season, it shouldn't be overlooked that the striker is still very committed to giving Dortmund a great weekly performance.
Striker: Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
Another striker who hardly needs to be introduced is Lewandowski, who has long since become one of the best Number 9 players in world football thanks to his outstanding goal record at Bayern. So far this season, the Poland international has scored 20 goals in 18 league games and assisted once. The figure is unmatched in the Bundesliga and this season in Europe as well.
Forward: Thomas Müller (Bayern Munich)
It may be easy to forget or take Thomas Müller's talent for granted, but even at the age of 32 he remains one of the finest strikers in European football. In 18 league games nagelsmann has managed this season, the Germany international has scored an impressive 5 goals and 16 assists – a statistic that is completely unmatched in europe's top flight this season.
