The National Passenger Car Market Information Federation released the latest Chinese automobile sales data on the 11th, showing that Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory delivered 70,847 vehicles in December 2021, breaking into the 70,000-month sales camp of pure electric vehicles. In 2021, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory delivered a total of 484,130 vehicles, an increase of 235% year-on-year, of which more than 160,000 vehicles were delivered in overseas markets, meeting the needs of more than 10 countries such as Europe and Asia.

It is worth mentioning that Tesla's global delivery volume in 2021 is 936,000 vehicles, and the Shanghai Gigafactory accounts for 51.7%, accounting for half of Tesla's global delivery.

Tesla said that thanks to the high intelligence, digitalization and up to 86% of the parts localization rate, the production capacity of the Shanghai Gigafactory will be further increased in 2021, and in the third quarter of 2021, the quarterly output of the Model3 and Model Y of the Shanghai Gigafactory will also exceed the Fremont plant in California for the first time.

In addition, Tesla Shanghai R&D Innovation Center and Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory Data Center will be completed in 2021.

Shanghai R&D Innovation Center is also Tesla's first overseas R&D center based on vehicle development, including software, hardware, electronics, materials, power and energy engineering teams, a total of 28 laboratories, at this stage focus on Tesla's software and hardware in China, process and technology development work, while undertaking the Chinese market application adaptation and standard testing, and participate in the global AI machine learning related research and development work. The Shanghai Gigafactory data center is used to store data on Chinese operations such as factory production.
