It is understood that Tesla's Shanghai factory is currently in addition to meeting the needs of domestic consumers, but also to more than a dozen countries located in Asia and Europe for supply. Of the 484,130 new cars delivered at the Shanghai plant in 2021, more than 160,000 were exported, of which the Tesla Model 3 exported more than 130,000.
In the Chinese market, the domestic Tesla Model Y, which was officially launched in January 2021, delivered 200131 vehicles in the first year, and it is very likely to surpass BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and other models to become the sales champion of domestic high-end SUVs in 2021.
At present, Tesla is popular among consumers in China, and short supply has become the norm. At the end of December 2021, Tesla China officially updated the delivery date of the Model 3 and Model Y models again, from the previous "expected first quarter of 2022" to "expected 12 to 16 weeks", which also means that the time for users to pick up the car is further extended.
However, in order to alleviate the pressure on production capacity, it is reported that Tesla will invest 1.2 billion yuan to optimize the production line of the Shanghai factory, and the project is expected to be completed in April this year, when the production capacity of the Shanghai factory will undoubtedly be on a higher level.
Summary: Tesla's Shanghai factory only began to achieve deliveries in January 2020, and in just two years, the annual delivery volume exceeded 480,000 vehicles, of which the Sales Volume in the Chinese market increased by 235% year-on-year, which is enough to reflect the current popularity of Tesla.
