Unified charging port for smart electronic devices? Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Will promote the formulation of national standards

As we all know, the charging interface on the market can be roughly divided into three kinds of Micro, Type C, lightning, of which Type C and Lightning are the most common, but after the user replaces the device, the original charger and data cable are mostly idle, resulting in huge waste. Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology replied to Ding Lei, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, on the proposal of unifying the standard port of smart electronic equipment charger to further reduce e-waste to help carbon neutrality.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that it has carried out work, including strengthening the formulation of technical specifications for terminal equipment charging, promoting the integration and interoperability of various fast charging technologies, and promoting the recycling of waste electrical appliances and electronics. Last year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved and issued two industry standards and 4 national standards for chargers, such as "Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Power Adapters and Charging/Data Interfaces of Mobile Communication Terminals" and "Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Fast Charging of Mobile Communication Terminals", and put forward specifications for chargers from the aspects of charger interface type, performance and safety.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology pointed out that the next step will be to improve the standard system, promote the integration of charging interfaces and technologies, and strengthen the recycling of electronic and electrical products. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will speed up the formulation and issuance of the "Implementation Plan on Accelerating the Comprehensive Utilization of Industrial Resources", deeply implement the pilot project of extending the producer responsibility of electrical and electronic products, and strive to improve the recycling rate of electrical and electronic products such as waste chargers.
