Puyi
On December 4, 1959, the last emperor, Puyi, was pardoned from the Fushun War Criminals Administration after fourteen years of detention, and he returned to Beijing after a long absence.
When he first returned to Beijing, Puyi first worked at the Botanical Garden of the Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, responsible for watering, cleaning and so on, and later was transferred to the Museum of Literature and History as a material commissioner, specializing in writing memoirs.
When Puyi was in Beijing, he returned to the Forbidden City several times, but at that time it was already the Palace Museum. The first time was in 1960 by Shen Drunk, Du Yuming and a few other friends, none of whom had ever been to the Forbidden City, just so that the former emperor could be a tour guide. Later, Puyi also took Li Shuxian to visit twice.
For the first time, Puyi was reluctant to go, because there were many memories there that he did not want to mention, just like he wrote in "The First Half of My Life", what he hated most was that Cixi made him emperor, making him a fateful life.
Shen Drunken later recalled that before entering the Forbidden City, he went to buy tickets, and Puyi said sullenly: "I am going back to my own home today, do I still want to buy tickets?" "Presumably, Puyi at that moment was also full of emotions in his heart."
Later, when he took Li Shuxian to visit the Forbidden City again, it was Puyi himself who took the initiative to go. Once, on May 3, 1963, Li Shuxian had just finished attending the May Day party the day before, and she was tired, but she did not want to sweep away Puyi's interest, so she still followed. According to Li Shuxian's recollection, at this time, Puyi had no regret at all, and some were just a peaceful attitude, and he whispered to her with great interest to correct the mistakes of the tour guide's explanation, laughing and talking about the embarrassment that was driven out of the palace by Lu Zhonglin.
Four years later, Puyi died of illness at the age of 61.
In fact, like Puyi, there are not many people who have to buy tickets when they return to their hometowns, such as Yan Zhihui, the son of Yan Xishan, and Dai Meiman, the granddaughter of Dai Kasa.
Son of Yan Xishan
Yan Xishan had five sons, the eldest son and the third son died early, the second son Yan Zhikuan also died unexpectedly at the age of twenty, leaving a wife Zhao Xiujin; the fourth son, Yan Zhimin, an IBM engineer, had been living in the United States and died there; Yan Zhihui was Yan Xishan's fifth son.
Soon after Yan Zhihui fled to Taiwan with Yan Xishan, he went to Japan to do business, because his second sister-in-law, Zhao Jinxiu, lived in Japan. Yan Zhihui has been taken care of by her second sister-in-law Zhao Xiujin since she was a child, so she is very close, and as a result, who knows that within a few years, Yan Zhihui fell in love with Zhao Xiujin and married her.
Later, Yan Zhihui and his wife immigrated to the United States, where they drove taxis, sold insurance, and had a very hard time, and when Yan Xishan died in 1960, Yan Zhihui regretted that he could not rush to Taiwan to send his father on his last journey because he had no money to buy a plane ticket.
In the 1990s, Yan Zhihui returned to Shanxi alone once, and he lived in the mansion when he was a child, which has been changed to Yan Xishan's former residence. Yan Zhihui stood at the door of the old house, silently paid for a ticket, went in and turned around, and also counted a heart matter.
On March 25, 2011, Yan Zhihui died of illness in California, USA, at the age of 83.
Dai Kasa's granddaughter
After talking about Yan Xishan's son, let's talk about Dai Kasa's granddaughter.
Dai Kasa and his wife Mao Xiucong had only one son, Dai Zangyi, who served as a major general commissioner of the Military Command Bureau and a major general of the Zhongyi National Salvation Army, and was shot in 1951, and at the same time, the "Dai Mansion" was confiscated.
After Dai Zangyi's death, he left behind his wife Zheng Xiying and three sons (Dai Yikuan, Dai Yihong, and Dai Yichang), and a daughter (Dai Meiman, the other daughter Dai Lulu died prematurely). At that time, in order to facilitate his escape, Zheng Xiying gave his daughter Dai Meiman to Tang Haozhu, a former chef of the Dai family, for adoption, and he took his three sons to live in his mother's home quzhou for a while, and then moved to Shanghai in anonymity.
In 1953, Mao Renfeng sent agents to infiltrate Shanghai and secretly take Zheng Xiying and Dai Yikuan and Dai Yichang to Taiwan, while Dai Yihong was left in an orphanage in Shanghai because he did not have documents.
Dai Meiman and Dai Yihong both grew up and married, and in 1991 they flew to Taiwan to reunite with their surviving mother, Zheng Xiying.
In the early twentieth century, Dai Meiman once returned to the "Dai Mansion", but at this time it had long been converted into Dai Kasa's former residence and became a tourist attraction. Like Yan Zhihui when she returned to Yan Xishan's former residence, she also bought a ticket herself and revisited it calmly.
However, the difference between Dai Meiman and Puyi and Yan Zhihui is that she was born late, when Dai Kasa's former residence was still "Dai Mansion", she may not have remembered anything, so there may not be so many personal feelings.
