The relationship between the characters in the play is complex, of which Dong Jiaerchun is one of the protagonists and is loved by the emperor. This is quite consistent with the historical record. The prototype of Dong Jia'er Chun is Jiaqing's concubine Dong Jiashi, who has indeed become very popular and has a very important position.
How hot is she? There are not many records in the main history, and there are not many legends in the wild history, but we can glimpse it in the data. Dong Jiashi was drafted into the palace in March of the sixth year of Jiaqing, at this time the Taishang Emperor Qianlong had died, which was also the first time that the Jiaqing Emperor had drafted himself. As an emperor, of course, it is a woman who left her favorite, Dong Jiashi is one of them, and the title obtained is not low.
Logically, Dong Jia's origin is very low, and his father Shi Tai is the head of the commission treasury, which is colloquially speaking, the Zhengliupin petty officer who manages the weapons warehouse. Such a background, in the Qing Dynasty, which valued mendi, really couldn't get a hand. A woman of such a birth should be given the title of permanent, or a lower rank. However, when Dong Jia entered the palace, she was named a Noble Person, which shows that she did make the Jiaqing Emperor fall in love at first sight.
Not only that, but after a month, she was canonized as a concubine. It was fast, and almost certainly, the emperor was quite pleased with her. Therefore, she also became the first harem woman personally selected by the Jiaqing Emperor to be crowned a concubine. In the book, the emperor was even more generous in his praise:
The Tung clan of the Noble Lord. Early reputation roujia. Dreams of Honor. The rank of the pepper coating. Quiet things are only appropriate. Yu LanYe's Jia name. Cultivation is unique.
Although these praises are exaggerated, they are definitely Jiaqing's best praise for the pet concubine at this moment. However, Chun Concubine encountered a big obstacle that prevented her from further promotion.
The emperor's concubines, in addition to getting favors and making the emperor happy, are more important than having children and spreading leaves for the royal family. Jiaqing's heirs were thin, and they were not prosperous, and they needed the efforts of harem women. However, the concubine Dong Jiashi of Chun received thousands of favors, but she was never able to give birth to a son and a half daughter, so there was no reason to get further promotion.
More importantly, the emperor had to set his sights on the other concubines, expecting the rain and dew to blossom and bear fruit. Although Concubine Chun was not out of favor, she obviously could no longer be pampered for a while like when she had just entered the palace.
Moreover, Concubine Chun died of illness in the twenty-sixth year of Jiaqing, about 20 years after entering the palace. She hurriedly came and passed away, taking away the regret of not being able to have children. Later, when the palace people counted her relics, they found that in more than ten years, she had received so many rewards. According to the records of the "Disposal and Incineration of the Relics of the Empress Concubines of the Qing Dynasty", she received 167 sets of small gifts from Jiaqing.
These gifts are all golden jade that can be preserved, not counting the delicacies that have been eaten and the qiong pulp jade liquid that has been drunk. It can be seen that Chun Concubine was favored at that time. However, according to the rules of the Qing court, the relics of the deceased concubines were not given to her family. Some of them were recycled by relevant institutions such as the Qianqing Palace, the Worship Room, the Tea Dining Room, and the Construction Office, while the other part was given to the Empress, Concubines, Concubines, Concubines, Concubines, Honorable Nobles, Engui People, and An Changzai as a souvenir.
Throughout the life of Chun Concubine Dong Jia, although favored, it is still relatively unremarkable. The plots in "The Desire of the Golden Branch" are just the author's imagination. Even in the historical data, the name of Chun Concubine is not recorded, and the name of Dong Jia'er Chun is only a beautiful idea.
