R Star/2K parent take-two announced that it has now reached an agreement to acquire mobile game developer Zynga for $12.7 billion. The acquisition will make T2 the largest and most diverse mobile game publisher in the gaming industry, Zynga currently has more than 183 million monthly active users, and after the acquisition, T2's mobile game business will be taken over by Zynga and continue to operate under this brand. The deal is expected to be fully completed in the first quarter of 2023, when the company's mobile game business is expected to account for 50% of the global mobile game market.
In its official submission, Take-Two has made some notes on the company's plans to work jointly with Zynga in the future, such as:
· Introduce Take-Two's IP to the mobile game field
· Integrate online services with cross-platform play experiences
· Launched the development of ontology free games and increased sustainable revenue
· Attract more users
· Expand into new areas
It is worth mentioning that there is still a 45-day clause in the deal that will allow Zynga to accept better conditions from different companies during this period. This is reminiscent of when T2 previously announced that it would be acquiring racing game developer Codemasters, which ultimately failed due to EA's higher price tag.
