Musk: Tesla FSD price rose to $12,000

On January 10, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in a public article through social platforms that the price of Tesla's full self-driving system (FSD, Full Self-Driving) will rise to $12,000 (about 76,000 yuan) on January 17. It is reported that the FSD kit was previously priced at $10,000 (about 63,000 yuan).

Tesla users can use the FSD suite to enter locations in the navigation system to assist driving on highways and city streets. It should be noted that although FSD is called "full automatic driving" in the name, after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration questioned it, Tesla said that the technology still belongs to L2 level autonomous driving. So Tesla owners still need to be responsible for the vehicle during the driving process, must put their hands on the steering wheel, and are ready to take over the vehicle at any time.

Although FSD has not yet fully achieved the level of driverless, the resulting software services have begun to contribute revenue to Tesla. According to the financial report, tesla's service revenue including FSD in the third quarter of 2021 was $894 million, accounting for 6.5% of the quarterly revenue of $13.757 billion. The gross margin of Tesla's automotive business reached 30.5% in the quarter, creating a record high.
