On January 9, Jeff Wilcox, Apple's Director of Mac System Architecture, revealed at the LinkedIn that he would return to Intel as Intel Fellow, Design Engineering Group CTO, and responsible for Intel's SoC architecture.
A few weeks earlier, Wilcox had revealed on LinkedIn that he was leaving Apple. At the time, he wrote on LinkedIn that after an amazing 8 years, he decided to leave Apple in search of new opportunities.
It is understood that Wilcox joined Apple in 2013, and during Apple's 8 years, as the director of Mac system architecture, he was an important driver of Apple's Mac's transition to self-developed chips, and also the leader of the M1 development team. Prior to joining Apple, Wilcox spent three years at Intel as lead architect for PC chipsets.
