One ton up 740! The first auction of wheat in 2022, why can grain be sold at a high price in five years

On January 5, the National Reserve of Wheat ushered in the first auction of the New Year, and all 500,000 tons were sold. (Figure 1) Judging from the picture, the earliest batch of wheat turned out to be 2014, more than 8 years since now, which can be called the "originator" of aged grains. Therefore, the auction reserve price is also very low, only 2,000 yuan a ton.

However, from the perspective of the final transaction price, it is basically consistent with the mainstream quotation of the current market, among which the second-class wheat directly under the chuzhou library in Anhui Province is even higher than the starting price of 740 yuan.

Why can old grain that has been preserved for more than 5 years be sold at a high price?

Generally stored for more than 3 years of grain, called aged grain. The grain itself has not undergone qualitative changes, but after all, the storage period is too long, so it cannot be eaten directly as rations, but it can be processed as industrial grain or energy grain. Therefore, starch, alcohol, feed and other related enterprises are still very willing to purchase aged grains, but it does not affect the processing, and the price is still cheap, so the auction is very fierce, and the high-priced transaction is no surprise. Then, if the peasants store grain and put it for two years, will they be able to sell it at a high price? If it is stored in the open or the storage conditions are simple, it is not called aged grain, it may be called "secondary grain", and the secondary grain can neither be eaten nor used. Even if you want to trade according to the standard of aged grain, you must first undergo strict testing and identification to determine whether there is a qualitative change.
