Memories of Shanxi: Memorabilia of Datong City (Liao)

934 (9th year of Liao Tianxian) Liaoke Yunzhou.

In 936 (the eleventh year of Tianxian), the Later Jin lord Shi Jingyao ceded the Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun to the Khitan and became Emperor Er.

In 937 (the twelfth year of Tianxian), the Liao lord Yelü Deguang went to Yunzhou. Wu Luan guarded the city behind closed doors, not subject to the order of cutting off the land, and the Liao soldiers could not go down to Yunzhou for half a year.

In 968 (the eighteenth year of the Ying calendar), Emperor Muzong of Liao hunted in the mountains of Yunzhou.

In the autumn of July 972 (four years of conservatism), Emperor Jingzong of Liaojing came to Yunzhou.

In 982 (the fourth year of Qianheng), Emperor Jingzong of Liao traveled to Xijing and died of illness at Jiaoshan Mountain (60 miles west of the city) in Yunzhou.

In 986 (the fourth year of reunification), the Song army divided into three roads to cut down the Liao. The deputy commander of the Western Route Army, Yang Ye, led his front troops to conquer Yunzhou in March of the lunar calendar, after which Yang Ye was captured and died unyieldingly.

In 998 (the sixteenth year of reunification), The Liao Shengzong Yelu Longxu was stationed at The Victory Pass (west of Datong City).

In 1102 (the second year of Taiping), the great earthquake in Yunzhou and Yingzhou destroyed the house.

In 1037 (the sixth year of Chongxi), Emperor Yelüzong of Liaoxing was hunting in Wild Fox Ridge. In the same year, Guanyin Hall was built in the west of Datong City, and the word "Buddha" was engraved on the north cliff of Xishan Mountain, and its place was named Buddha Character Bay.

In the winter of 1043 (the twelfth year of Chongxi), Emperor Xingzong of Liao inspected the western capital city (Datong City).

In 1044 (the thirteenth year of Chongxi), Liaoshengyun Prefecture was established as Xijing Datong Prefecture (Datong Original Name).

In 1045 (the fourteenth year of Chongxi), the Yungang Grottoes were renovated, which lasted ten years and ten great temples were built.

In 1048 (the seventeenth year of Chongxi), Datong County was attached to Guo. Since then, the name of Datong County (Datong City) has not changed.

In 1062 (the eighth year of Qingning), Emperor Daozong of Liao toured Xijing, built the Relics of Huayan Temple, and made stone and bronze statues of the Emperors of Feng'an.

In 1121 (the first year of Bao Da), the people in Datong City passed through the Middle Zhuangyuan and became the first Yuan of Datong.

In 1122 (the second year of Baoda), Emperor Tianzuo of Liao led a guard of 5,000 men to Xijing and was also the ruler of Datong Province.
