In the rice circle, the end of the universe is not love, X powder, collapsed house, but cheeks.
It seems that no idol can escape the fate of two breaths of anger and one cheek; time passes day by day, and the cheeks of your brothers, sisters, sons and daughters are getting bigger and bigger every day.
In order to stop their faces from becoming bigger and bigger, people became increasingly anxious and tried various methods: injections, bone cutting, less chewing gum...
"Cheek anxiety" on Douban / Douban
It's just, can these ways really prevent cheeks? Why do our faces become big and square?
————
"Cheeks" are more terrifying than "blessings"
The so-called "cheeks", called "stud jowl" in English, originally referred to the male secondary sexual characteristics of a male cat. At about 12 months, most male cats that have not yet had their eggs cut off will develop their jaws— two lumps of fat on their cheeks— to show that they are already mature male cats.
Although the two lumps of meat growing on the cat's face look cute and loveable, if these two lumps of meat grow on the adult's face, it becomes a burden and a burden that cannot be shaken off.

Some people are troubled by this, because sometimes even losing weight can't lose their round cheeks. So why do people's faces have two more lumps of flesh for no reason?
To explain this matter clearly, we must start from the part and structure of the cheek.
"Cheeks" originally refers to the lower half of the cheeks, the sides of the face, when we say that others "blush", often refers to the two sides of the person's chin to become fat, or the chin itself to change square.
This involves several basic elements of "cheekburn": the mandible, masseter muscles and facial fat.
The mandible is the bone that supports the jaw, and it is connected to the temporal bones on both sides to form the temporomandibular joint, and our teeth grow on the mandible.
The green part of the picture is the mandible
The largest of the muscle groups attached to the mandible is the masseter, also known as the masticatory muscle, which is mainly used to lift the mandible so that we can chew.
The next layer of the masseter muscle is the subcutaneous fat, of course, there are eight hundred intersecting nerves, which we will ignore first.
The fat, masseter muscles and mandibles mentioned above can all be the source of cheeks.
Fat-induced cheeks are best understood and relatively easy to solve. As the saying goes, fat people first fat face, lose weight first lose chest. A group of male celebrities demonstrated very well how to achieve blushing through hair blessings, such as the national brother who entered the Heavenly Dynasty from neon, the military art school grass who turned to a harmonic star, and the "cream boy" who loved his family and loved to cook...
Kataji Ryota, once a torn face teenager in "Brother Loves Me Too Much", also can't hide from the development of cheeks and fat / network
If you are like them, not only the face is fat, but also three circles of meat are piled on the stomach, then you only need to open your mouth less, open your legs, lose the fat, and your face will naturally be thin.
If you are too lazy to lose weight, it is not impossible to wait for the years to pass. Our facial fat is divided into two parts: deep and shallow, including the nose bridge fat pad, which is continuously distributed on the face, while the deep fat is used to fill the facial contours and is loosely fixed in different positions, such as the subocular fat, the posterior fat of the orbicularis orbicularis muscle and the buccal fat pad.
As we age, our deep facial fat will gradually lose, and baby fat will automatically decrease; but at the same time, the collagen on our face will also decrease, and the surface skin will become thinner, so that the facial skin is not elastic, the meat is gone, and people are old.

If someone doesn't gain weight but has a bigger face, it may be the masseter muscles or mandibles that are at work.
If you've ever been reminded that your face will get bigger because you always chew gum, you should be familiar with the cheeks caused by the masseter muscles. The reason is simple: the more you chew, the larger the masseter muscles, and the more bulging the sides of the chin. So chewing 32 bites of bread is not something that anyone's masseter muscles can stand.
Sometimes chewing gum too often can lead to an extremely rare onset of illness, idiopathic masseter muscle hypertrophy (IMMH). The cause of this condition is still unclear, but it may be due to psychological disorders, temporomandibular joint disorders, and chewing gum is also one of the factors that may lead to masseter muscle hypertrophy.
The enlarged masseter muscles will not only make your face bulge into two pieces of flesh, but it may also impair muscle function, resulting in conditions such as closed teeth, protruding teeth, and bruxism.
Therefore, chew less gum, otherwise the face will become large and square, and the teeth will become unfavorable.
People's masseter muscle thickness increases by about 2 mm during puberty and stops growing naturally after the ages of 20 (females) and 22 (men). Studies have found that in the young group aged 7-22 years, the thickness of the masseter muscle and the height of the mandible are inversely correlated, and the height of the mandible becomes shorter with age, and the masseter muscle will thicken with age.
In addition to the fattening of the face and the enlargement of the masseter muscles, there is another reason why the cheeks are most difficult to solve and cannot be avoided, that is, the continuous growth of age.
The biggest reason for the blushing in middle age is it
Cheeks are actually one of the manifestations of facial aging. The increasing age mainly acts on the shape of the mandible, but at the same time it will also change the fat layer and masseter muscle thickness of the person, so that the human face is really larger and more square.
In this sense, blushing is indeed a curse that people cannot escape.
The morphological changes in the mandible are the "culprits" of the enlargement of the face, and the fat layer and masticatory muscles are the "accomplices". To put it simply, the mandible of an adult is constantly growing downward and outward, the angle of the mandible will increase, the facial fat will sag, the masseter muscles will also become thicker, and the end of life is the wrinkled square face of the crayon little new dad (fortunately his dad is not bald).
From childhood to old facial bone growth trend, the face shape of Xiaoxin and Dad is very different / Crayon Xiaoxin
Overall, the human skull and bones continue to grow. After puberty, people's mandibles undergo secondary development. Between the ages of 25 and 40, the combined length of the male jaw can increase by 3-6 mm, and the female jaw can also grow by less than 1 mm in length. At the same time, the angle of people's jaws is increasing.
Even after the age of 50, the length of a person's mandible will not stop growing. This is because one of the reasons for the increase in the length of the mandible is the continued growth of the lower front teeth. From the age of 30, people will go down and backward to "enlarge" the length of the mandible, and the lower teeth will become more and more prominent, and by the age of 50, the bone reorganization of the alveolar is also "endless", so the growth of the mandible is still continuing.
In a recent photo of Timothée Chalamet, his mandible shows signs of widening slightly (although he was only 25 years old).

As the mandible grows, fat gradually flows from the upper part of the face to the cheeks and jaws. That is to say, when people are old, fat will not only be lost, but also sagging.
When people are young, the cells that make up facial tissue are elastic and have clear boundaries that hold each part of the face in place. Therefore, young facial fat is stored dispersedly. As they get older, these boundaries begin to stretch, merge, lose their integrity, and emerge areas where fat is concentrated, including previously thinner or sunken areas on the face — such as the chin.
In the lower part of the face, skin and fat will also "flow" to the bottom and back of the chin, to the neck and latissimus, so some elderly people have double chins.
For example, human aging is also like witnessing the process of gravity, and the fat of the upper part of the face "flows" to the cheeks and jaw.
People old after fat flow downward caused by double chin / visual Chinese
There is a "double kill" of fat and mandibles, and it is difficult for people not to blush.
For women, cheeks are more pronounced and rapid. Studies have shown that although the facial aging patterns of men and women are more similar, such as the eyes will become smaller, the lips will become thinner, and the chin will become wider, between the ages of 35 and 90, the average facial aging rate of women is almost twice that of men.
Comparison of facial aging patterns in women aged 35-90 years
In addition, the manifestation of cheekburn is more pronounced in postmenopausal (after the age of 55). This may be because the drastic reduction in estrogen in postmenopausal women contributes to more pronounced bone resorption, so the flesh on the woman's face has no "container" and is more likely to "fall off", so it appears that the lower half of the face will be wider.
The V-face of postmenopausal women is gone, and the lower part of the face becomes wider /visually Chinese
Overall, the rate of facial aging in women suddenly increases in the short period between menopause (52 to 56 years old) and decreases rapidly after menopause (57 to 60 years old). In contrast, the rate of facial aging in men is relatively stable, and it will continue to rise after the age of 60. At the age of 56 or 57, women's facials age three times faster than men's.
So I really can't blame women's appearance anxiety for coming too early and too fiercely, women's growth pain, men really don't understand.
In this way, the matter of the face becoming larger and changing the square may really not be completely avoided, after all, it is the inevitable result of aging.
Although, however, we can not resist aging, but we can slow down the pace of aging. Cheeks, there are still ways to prevent and solve.
Little V face, can you still come back
The causes of cheekburn are different, and the solutions are naturally different.
First of all, we must judge where your bulging cheeks come from: if your stomach also has swimming rings, eight achievements are fat; if you have not gained weight, and you can feel the raised, tight muscles when you bite your back teeth, it is most likely that the masseter muscles are hypertrophied.
The easiest type to solve is the fat-induced cheeks, which can be lost.
But if your masseter muscles stretch out your cheeks, it's more troublesome to solve. In the treatment of idiopathic masseter hypertrophy, the most commonly used method in the medical community is botulinum toxin type A treatment, which is what we usually call face slimming injections.
There are several different types of masseter hypertrophy
Slimming needles are not lean fat (facial liposuction surgery is), but lean muscles. It causes the masseter muscle to atrophy and become smaller by injecting botulinum A into the masseter muscle, thereby changing the contours of the person's face. A study that tracked 504 patients treated with slimming needles showed that after 3 months of injection, the thickness of the masseter muscle decreased significantly, reducing by about 3 mm, from 12.9 ± 2.9 mm to 8.7 ± 1.7 mm.
However, we do not recommend blindly choosing a slimming needle, because the slimming needle may cause many complications, including dizziness, headache, allergies, chewing abnormalities, temporomandibular joint movement abnormalities, and so on. Recently, medical beauty chaos has occurred frequently, and the posts on a red book that have turned over the face of the needle are not uncommon, and before making any medical aesthetic decision, you must think twice.
Before choosing a slimming needle, it is best to consult a professional medical institution / Visual China
Finally, the only way to combat facial aging seems to be to prevent aging itself.
Solar radiation, dry wind or air can accelerate facial aging, and smoking may also promote facial aging due to effects such as the destruction of skin microvascular. Therefore, daily sunscreen and moisturizing are the basic ways to prevent aging; thermoji of regular medical and aesthetic institutions or skin care products containing anti-aging factors can also help.
But the main thing, of course, is to keep a moment of youthfulness and a non-anxious mind. After all, it's not just your chin that gets wider, and the flesh isn't just growing on your own face. A change of just 1-3mm should not be the object of our daily fears. Square chins, large faces and wrinkles will be the same as the traces of age, if you really can't resist, it is better to accept it.
