Puyi was the last emperor of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, and before cixi died, he designated the name to be passed on to his son Emperor Tongzhi, and then at the suggestion of Zhang Zhidong and other ministers, he gave Puyi and Qi (succession) to the Guangxu Emperor, so the question of the subject appeared.
The heirs of the late Qing Dynasty withered
The Qing Dynasty from kangxi onwards had very strong heirs until the Xianfeng Emperor began to have only two sons (one of whom died prematurely) and one daughter, which can be said to be withered away (the reasons for which the author does not elaborate). Until Emperor Tongzhi ascended the throne at the age of six and died at the age of nineteen, cixi had no heirs for thirteen years, and Cixi had no choice but to find a successor who could control from His brothers, so he chose to be succeeded to the Xianfeng Emperor by his own sister and Xianfeng Emperor's younger brother Ai Xinjueluo Yizhen (later the Guangxu Emperor) to inherit to the Xianfeng Emperor, thus becoming a new generation of crown princes.
The five-year-old Guangxu Emperor became a puppet of Cixi and Ci'an (who subsequently died, and all power fell into the hands of Cixi alone), until Guangxu grew up unwilling to become a puppet, and repeatedly wanted Cixi to relinquish power, but Cixi refused. Until the defeat of Jia Wu, Guangxu advocated changing the law to become stronger, but these changes seriously affected the opposition of the diehards led by Cixi. The relationship between "mother and son" broke down, the change of law failed, Guangxu was imprisoned in Yingtai, and cixi wanted to establish another emperor at that time, but was strongly opposed at home and abroad, so the plan to abolish the old emperor and establish a new emperor was in vain, and then he fell ill and became weaker and weaker. Cixi feared that emperor Guangxu would persecute the status of his family's descendants when he regained his position, so he sent people to poison and assassinate Emperor Guangxu (which has been proved by later generations to be guangxu's death from poisoning).
Puyi "one qi two rooms"
The Guangxu Emperor was dead, and his time was running out, so before his death, he summoned his ministers to a meeting to discuss the next heir to the throne (rather than discussing, it was Cixi's will). Cixi said: "Emperor Li Guangxu's younger brother Ai XinjueLuo Zaifeng's son Puyi was made emperor and passed on to The Tongzhi Emperor, and at the same time Aixin Jueluo Zaifeng was also an auxiliary chancellor to assist him in his growth. Some ministers thought that this was inappropriate, so they advised Cixi: "The former emperor is the Guangxu Emperor, Guangxu died of illness and has no heirs, and should be passed on to the Guangxu Emperor, otherwise the people of the world will think that this matter is inappropriate, and there will be chaos!" This is What Guangxu's younger brother Aisin Kyora Zaifeng also thinks so, after all, it is his own brother. Cixi pondered for a moment and said, "In this way, Puyi will be passed on to the Tongzhi Emperor and also to the Guangxu Emperor." Therefore, Guangxu was originally Puyi's great uncle, and as a result, he suddenly became the son of two previous emperors, which is ridiculous, and the world knows that this is bragging!
Whoever proposed it should have been proposed by Zhang Zhidong, a heavy minister of the late Qing Dynasty, after all, it was Cixi's favored heavy minister who dared to make this suggestion.
