Especially the Guangxu Emperor, after his death, the official release of data said that the cause of Guangxu's death was poisoning, and all the spearheads were pointed at Cixi, and it is conceivable that the enmity between the two was so deep. During the reign of the Guangxu Emperor, Cixi established him and deposed him, but many people do not know that there is an "emperor" who only reigned for 3 days.
So why did this man only sit for three days? This has to start with the Guangxu Emperor.
The Guangxu Emperor who failed to save the country and change the law
After the death of the Tongzhi Emperor, the Xianfeng Emperor had no heirs, and originally according to the Qing Dynasty's heir system, one should be chosen in the clan to be passed on to the Tongzhi Emperor as his son to inherit the throne.
However, Cixi did not agree, for her own rights, all she had to do was to establish an heir to the Xianfeng Emperor, and to use her status as empress dowager to continue to obey the government, so Prince Shuo's four-year-old son, Ai Xinjueluo Zaixiang, became the best candidate.
Zai Xiang was different from Zai Chun, from a young age, the Guangxu Emperor was clever and witty, and when he was young, he was good at reading, and he respected his teacher Weng Tonggong like a father, but the sound of the Guangxu Emperor's reading aloud was very harsh in Cixi's ears.
The Guangxu Emperor, who had no real power, placed it on that dragon chair like a large vase in the middle of the dynasty, and only "retreating from the dynasty and playing accurately" every day could not express any opinion.
As he grew older and married the Guangxu Emperor, Cixi did not dare to violate the rules of his ancestors and so he withdrew the curtain and returned to the government, although he had withdrawn the curtain Cixi continued to "educate Guangxu" in the form of training the government.
Guangxu had been holding back on the throne for more than ten years, and he had long wanted to let go and do a big job, but the sudden war had completely shattered the dream in The Guangxu Emperor's heart.
In 1894, the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War broke out, and the final result ended the war at the cost of the total annihilation of the Beiyang Fleet, and after the Japanese landed in Lushun, a series of horrific events such as the "Lushun Massacre" were carried out, which completely angered the Guangxu Emperor.
Before the Japanese side could slow down the demands of the Treaty of Maguan, Cixi ordered it to be signed, and at this time, the Guangxu Emperor really did not want to be the king of the subjugated country, and joined forces with Kang Youwei, Liang Qichao, and Tan Sitong to begin a vigorous change of law.
This change of law was opposed by Cixi because it touched the interests of conservatives, and under the betrayal of Yuan Shikai, the six gentlemen who changed the law were arrested, and the Guangxu Emperor was imprisoned by Cixi in Yingtai, Nanhai, where Cixi was determined to abolish Guangxu, because she found a person to replace Guangxu, Pu Juan.
The "Great Brother" Pu Juan reigned for three days and was deposed
After emperor Guangxu was imprisoned, Cixi began a new round of curtain listening, but Cixi needed a puppet, a "new emperor" who needed to help her complete the curtain listening, so he chose Prince Duan's son Ai Xin jueluo Pu juan and named him the eldest brother, Pu Juan listened to the name and knew that he was not a generation of Guangxu, he was one generation younger than the Guangxu Emperor.
Cixi always had to choose a person who was related to her, obedient, Zai Xiang was the son of her own sister, Pu Yan was the son of her brother Gui Xiang's daughter, according to the Chinese generation Cixi was his aunt, so the 14-year-old Pu Juan was brought into the Yangxin Hall and entered the Tongzhi Emperor's vein, not only rewarded him with his head "top wear" but also allowed him to enter the Hongde Hall to study.
After everything was ready, Cixi began to take the throne of the Guangxu Emperor, during which in 1900, on the first day of the first lunar month, Cixi actually asked Pu Juan to replace the Guangxu Emperor to perform the rituals in the Fengxian Hall, which was a place dedicated to the ancestors of the Qing Dynasty, indicating that in Cixi's eyes, everyone should admit that this was the "New Heavenly Son" she had chosen.
But just three days after this incident, the "big brother" who had not yet sat on the hot dragon chair was forced to step down in a wave of opposition.
It turned out that there was a lot of opposition inside and outside the capital, and Rong Lu, a scholar of the University of Central China, and Ai Xinjue Luo Yili, the Prince of Qing, reported to Empress Dowager Cixi that the ministers of various countries did not agree to abolish the Guangxu Emperor and suggested that this matter be suspended first, otherwise the Qing government of various countries would really not be able to afford to offend.
The throne of the three days was thus obtained and lost, but the matter of the Guangxu Emperor abdicating the throne was only suspended and not over, and there may still be a hint of illusion in the hearts of Prince Duan and Pu Juan, but what happened later completely broke Pu Juan's imperial path.
When the Eight-Power Alliance invaded China, the Boxers were active in the late Qing Dynasty, and Prince Duan testified to the Boxers that they were "righteous people" and not "rioters", and under the cover of the government, the Boxers began to act, and the secretary of the Japanese Embassy and the Ambassador of the German Embassy were killed by the Boxer Rebellion, which angered the heads of embassies in various countries.
The Eight-Nation Alliance joined forces to go to Beijing to discuss the explanation, frightening Cixi to take Guangxu and Pu Juan all away and flee west, and ordered Prince Duan to be the minister of military aircraft, and as a result, in December he disposed of Prince Duan, believing that he was the culprit of the Jing Rebellion and stripped him of his title and asked him to defend Xinjiang.
In 1901, Cixi returned to the Forbidden City after ending his career as an exodus, and when he was on the road, he ordered Pu Juan to be deposed as the "Crown Prince", let him return to his home, continue to be the son of Prince Duan, and also ordered them both to be driven to Xinjiang, resulting in the father and son fleeing to Mongolia on the way to report for duty and living in Pu Juan's uncle's house.
Pu Juan's dream of being an emperor was shattered, and after arriving at his uncle's house in Mongolia, he married his cousin, and finally insisted on returning to Beijing with his wife in order to obtain some of the property of the palace.
But when he returned home, he began to squander the inherited property, the mountains were empty, and his old age was very bleak, and his life was already very poor, and Pu Yan was still smoking opium in a big mouth.
Pu Yan, who could not live in the Republic of China, wanted to turn to his relatives and was rejected, no one was willing to take him in, he actually relied on his cousin's house to live and die, and finally died in the Ta King's Mansion, thus ending his helpless life.
The last Qing Dynasty
Pu Juan was stripped of the title of "Big Brother", and the Guangxu Emperor could only continue to act as a puppet in Cixi's hands, and after fleeing from the west back to Beijing, Guangxu seemed to have changed as a person and basically stopped saying anything.
At that time, Guangxu's heart was like ashes, the ancestral inheritance must not be saved, and in the face of the devastated Jiangshan Sheji Guangxu Emperor knew that he could not do anything, not to mention that before he fled west, Cixi gave his beloved Concubine Zhenfei, and suffered a double blow mentally.
The next seven years were probably the darkest seven years of the Guangxu Emperor's life, and with the death of the Guangxu Emperor, Cixi also let go of the Qing Dynasty that had sunk in her hands for 48 years at 5 p.m. the next day, and passed away reluctantly.
At this time, the heir to the throne was a two-year-old child, who was carried from the prince's palace to the dragon chair, and was known as the Xuantong Emperor - Ai Xin Jue Luo Puyi.
Looking at the whole incident of the "Big Brother", like a farce, the three-day imperial career may explain Pu Juan's life.
The history books have a very bad evaluation of him, saying that he was a prodigal prince who acted recklessly everywhere, and if He really chose Pu Juan as emperor, the speed of the Qing government's demise might have accelerated for several more years.
