Nader, 26, detailed the incident in an Instagram post on Thursday. Nader said she hung her coat on the back of a chair when someone might have put the AirTag in her pocket. Afterward, she said the man followed her for five hours while she went to several bars in New York City.

She was alerted to notice the tracking when a notification appeared on her iPhone saying that an unknown accessory was moving with her. She found the AirTag in her coat when she got home.

"It was the scariest, scariest moment ever," she said in an Instagram post. "I just want to make people aware of this situation."

Before being tracked, Nader said she had no idea airTags existed. Now, she is using her large social media followers to raise awareness of potential security risks.

After the part was released in April 2021, there have been some reports that AirTags are being used to track people and facilitate theft.

However, Apple says the devices are designed to prevent tracking behavior. AirTags has anti-tracking mechanisms such as alerts that notify Nader. They also beep after leaving the range of their owner's iPhone. These are all features that are not currently available in other tracking devices, such as those made by Tile.
