IT House reported on May 10 that Apple Insider reported that Apple's tracker AirTag helped a man on vacation in Australia track down his stolen belongings and helped recover photographic equipment and other items worth $10,000.

Photographers' worst nightmares were to find their kit stolen or otherwise lost, but the Sydney man eventually recovered his photography equipment due to his use of AirTag.

Graham Tait was on holiday in South Australia in early May when his belongings were stolen while at the hotel. Items including laptops, Sony cameras, wallets, GoPros and other 10,000 Australian dollars (about 46,754 yuan) worth of equipment were stolen.

"Last night we were traveling in the Flinders Mountains when my car was broken in and they took a laptop bag and a camera — both with AirTags installed," Tait told 9 News.

As he actively used airTags with items, Tait then used the Find My app and tracked down the lost hardware. It turned out that his belongings had been taken to another room in the hotel where he was staying.

Tait called the police when he found out. Law enforcement is now "dealing with alleged offenders," the report said.

Although the anti-tracking measures surrounding it have been targeted for negative news, Apple AirTag is being used more in a positive way.
