Yan Wei, a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference: Let Beijing become a global museum of the city that will never end

On the morning of January 7, the Fifth Session of the 13th CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee held a speech. Among them, Yan Wei, a member of the CppcC Municipal Committee, spoke on behalf of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the China Democratic League, entitled "Building a City of Museums with High Quality and Enhancing the Influence of National Cultural Centers", and gave a number of suggestions for the shortcomings of Beijing's construction of a city of museums.

The overall layout of the museum is not entirely reasonable

Yan Wei pointed out in his speech that at present, 26 cities across the country have announced the creation of museum cities, and the "14th Five-Year Plan" of Beijing Municipality clearly proposes to build a museum city. Beijing has a large number of museums, rich collections, and profound heritage, but there are still some problems, including lack of strategic planning, the overall layout is not reasonable, manifested in the heavy number, light structure; heavy state-owned, light private; heavy public welfare, light operation; heavy single, light group, etc. Secondly, there is a lack of world-class museums, and there is a gap in the theme museums that highlight the status of major powers and the strategic positioning of the "four centers". In addition, there is a lack of effective institutional mechanisms, insufficient rational allocation of resources, and lack of industry self-development functions.

Support Beijing in building a world-class museum

In response to the above problems, Yan Wei put forward a number of suggestions: First, it is necessary to accelerate the formulation of a "special plan for the construction of the city of museums", clarify the timetable, road map, and responsible subjects, and implement classified management of the city's incremental and existing museums. Second, it is necessary to benchmark against the world's first-class standards and support the construction of a "world-class museum" that can not only display the excellent traditional Chinese culture, but also display the achievements of the integration of different civilizations of mankind. While building the Capital Museum, the Great Wall Museum, the Grand Canal Museum, and the Xishan Yongdinghe Museum at a high level, we will support the construction of a number of small and micro museums displayed in streets, alleys, and residential houses, so that the capital will become a global museum of the city that will never end. The third is to encourage the internal museums sponsored by central units and universities in Beijing to open to the public, encourage social forces to set up theme museums, actively explore the mode of co-construction and sharing, arrange construction land for private museums on preferential terms, and encourage qualified overseas well-known museums to open branches in Beijing.
