In 2017, the puppet show "Monkey King" went to The Hague and Amsterdam in the Netherlands to participate in the "Chinese Image Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition" and won the "Performance Gold Award".

Puppet shows are divided into four categories: marionette shows, cane puppet shows, bag puppet shows, and clematis puppet shows. Xiaoyi puppet show belongs to the cane head puppet show, which has a history of more than 800 years and was formed in the Song Dynasty. Before the 1980s, many of the puppets produced by the troupe were made of wooden carving technology, and the actors performed very laboriously, and later the troupe improved its technology in terms of modeling, drawing on the manufacturing process of lacquerware and using paper birth technology, which brought great progress to the production of Xiaoyi puppets. To make a puppet, it takes more than 40 processes such as modeling, turning the mold, and getting rid of the birth to complete, testing the artist's art, embroidery and even sewing skills.
Protecting intangible cultural heritage, inheriting national cultural genes, and watching over the spiritual homeland, since 2017, the troupe has carried intangible cultural heritage to various schools, communities and military camps inside and outside the province.
