Recently, some Chinese netizens found that B.I(real name Kim Hanbin), a Korean singer who was sentenced to 3 years for drug abuse in September last year and suspended for 4 years, opened a Small Red Book and Douyin account on New Year's Day this year, and shouted to Chinese fans "Let's see more." However, the momentum of this comprehensive entry into China's social platform has annoyed many Chinese netizens.
Under the prompt complaint action of Chinese netizens, as of the evening of January 5, Jin Hanbin's Weibo @BI_131 was temporarily banned, the Douyin account was banned, and the Little Red Book was emptied.
Kim Han-bin, born in October 1996 in South Korea, is a singer, producer and former captain of the boy band iKON under YG Entertainment. In 2015, he officially debuted in South Korea with the group iKON, and received attention due to his musical creation ability, and once filled in the lyrics for the debut song "Whistle" of the Korean girl group BLACKPINK.
In June 2019, South Korean media exposed Kim Han-bin's drug scandal, and Kim Han-bin's chat with A in April 2016 was exposed: he had asked the other party to buy hallucinogen LSD, and said that "I would ask you because I smoked with you", exposing the experience of smoking marijuana. South Korean police had already grasped the fact that Kim had purchased drugs such as marijuana and LSD in 2016, but did not investigate them.
In the same month, Kim Han-bin posted on Instagram denying his drug use and announcing his withdrawal from the group, saying that "there was a time when I wanted to rely on something I shouldn't care about because it was too painful and uncomfortable, which is true, but I didn't do it because I was afraid." Subsequently, its brokerage company YG Entertainment said it had decided to let it withdraw from the portfolio and terminate the contract.
On September 17, 2019, Kim Han-bin was investigated by the South Korean police as a witness for suspected purchase and smoking marijuana, and during the investigation, Kim Han-bin admitted some of the suspects, so the Korean police converted his witness identity into a suspect and continued to investigate.
On May 28, 2021, Kim was indicted by South Korean prosecutors for violating the Drug Control Law, and on August 27, Kim Washibin's suspected drug abuse case was heard, and the prosecutor sought a three-year prison sentence and a fine of 1.5 million won (about 8,000 yuan) to the court.
On September 10, 2021, the Criminal Division of the Central District Court in Seoul, South Korea, sentenced Kim to three years in prison, suspended for four years. Kim was also sentenced to 80 hours of community service, 40 hours of medication lectures, and a fine of 1.5 million won. In this regard, Kim Han-bin did not appeal.
In the 2 years from the time of the investigation to the official verdict, although Kim Hanbin quit the group, he did not stop the artist's activities or give up the Chinese market.
Not only did he enter Weibo in May 2021, but even before the preliminary trial on August 27, 2021, he had been promoting the first online concert in October of that year on Weibo; less than a month after the verdict was announced on September 10, Kim Hanbin not only successfully completed the concert, but also greeted Chinese fans for the first time, saying, "Let's see each other often in the future."
On the other hand, Kim Han-bin's Chinese fans have not stopped responding.
It is worth noting that in February 2020, Kim Han Bin's Chinese fan group @ Kim Han Bin Bar Official Bo (now renamed "Kim Han Bin _WITHID") said that Kim Han Bin commissioned his family to send tens of thousands of protective masks to Chinese fans. This is also one of the reasons why many fans can't bear to leave after their drug use sentences.
On August 27, 2021, after the results of the preliminary trial were released, @Jin Hanbin Bar Official Bo (now renamed "Jin Hanbin _WITHID") posted, "As fans, we will respect the trial of the law, will not confuse public opinion about related events because of our love for idols, actively respond to the national call for action, standardize star-chasing behavior, and maintain the network environment", and said that all assistance activities will be suspended until unified treatment after the judgment is announced on September 10.
At that time, many Chinese fans announced "depowdering" and asked the fan group to open a refund channel for vinyl album group purchases.
However, some fans believe that Kim Han-bin has "paid the price he should pay" and should be given the opportunity to reform.
On September 10, 2021, the day the verdict came out, @Kim Han Bin Bar Official Bo (now renamed "Kim Han Bin _WITHID") posted that "in the future, we will do our best to correctly guide fans, be careful in words and deeds to maintain a clear understanding, and not defend his (Kim Han Bin's) past", and said that they would "work together to help him (Kim Han Bin) become a mature and correct member of society".
Since then, @Kim Han Bin Bar official blog (now renamed "Kim Han Bin _WITHID") has normally updated Kim Han Bin dynamics. Kim Han-bin's own Weibo @BI_131 also maintain frequent updates, and the content is mostly album promotion.
On October 22, 2021, Kim Han-bin posted a birthday response from a Chinese fan group on Weibo, and the Korean banner of the aid car was marked as "CHINA KIMHANBINBAR".
On New Year's Day 2022, Kim Han-bin announced the entry of Little Red Book and Douyin. The move to fully enter China's social platforms has subsequently sparked heated discussions, with some Chinese netizens believing that there should be "zero tolerance" for drug-related artists, an attitude that does not distinguish between nationalities. Since then, many Chinese netizens have complained about Kim Hanbin's account on Chinese social platforms.
As of January 5, Jin Hanbin's Douyin account, which has published a piece of content, has been banned, and the Little Red Book, which has already published a piece of content, is in an empty state.
On the evening of January 5, Kim Han-bin was temporarily banned on Weibo.
