Zhejiang Provincial Culture Center Young and Middle-Aged Photography Cadres Photography Training Camp Achievements Exhibition No. 6: Lin Roukai's "Dachen Island"

If "photography is ultimately about solving your own problems," then a professional workshop is one that allows you to narrowly meet your own problems. Whether to "go head-on" or "turn around" is not only a choice at that time and place, but also defines your long-term relationship with photography.

Therefore, those who persist to the end are all worthy of congratulations!

Breakthroughs must begin with changes in thinking, and such changes must occur only through repeated tempering in practice.

This training camp is the longest and most crowded workshop I have ever led. In the two months of online and offline teaching, the students went from the initial 28 to the last 12 people – and it is their works presented here. It can't be said to be fully mature, but compared to when I first entered the workshop, the changes are huge and there is no lack of surprises. These photographs do not just constitute their thematic works; more importantly, they preserve this experience of persevering from frustration, confusion, doubt, and frustration forever.

All methodologies have a comparative level, but the real experience from the heart is unique.

That's what the workshop is all about.

I am very happy to have completed this experience with them and thank Brother Liu Zhining for the invitation. He dug me a rather large "pit", and fortunately, he himself happily "entered the pit". His trust is an important guarantee that a rigorous, serious workshop will be conducted.

At the opening ceremony of the workshop, I said, "Be honest. ”

At the graduation ceremony, I said, "It's not an end, it's a beginning." ”

May we always be able to greet every beginning of the road of photography with an honest heart!

Interpretation of the work

Dachen Island

One space, two ends of the dream.

Mountains and seas are the curtain, time is like.

Projection, coincidence, misalignment, fading.

An island that fell silent under gunfire and was reborn in the midst of reclamation.

Looking across the sea of time, a silent dialogue.

I tried to fold time and space, so that the legendary story of this 11.89 square kilometer of land was intertwined under the light of the sea and the sky.

I tried to drill through the cracks of time and space, smelling a trace of smoke in the wet and salty sea breeze.

I tried to lie on the wall of the parallel world, catching half a trumpet in the tide of reincarnation near and far.

Encounters like past lives and present lives have fulfilled each other's dreams.

It is slightly lonely, and the shadow is dangling.

Bootcamp testimonials

It is a great honor to be able to participate in the 2021 Zhejiang Provincial Culture Center young and middle-aged photography cadre training camp learning, teacher Liu Zhining invited Li Nan, who has been walking in the forefront of the current photography art, tailor-made this photography workshop for us, in recent years, the provincial museum has used various opportunities to create different platforms, is committed to improving the strength of Zhejiang Qunwen photography and cultivating a group of outstanding photography talents, this young and middle-aged photography cadre training camp is a new platform to open, this is the learning and upgrading opportunity I have been eager for, thank you for the provincial pavilion!

The work "Dachen Island" completed in this training camp is an existing theme created in 2019, and it has been newly created and edited in this training camp. The first phase of the training camp determined the selection of topics; the second phase determined the direction of editing, during which the display method was optimized through two online reports, the number of works was increased, and the elaboration of works was completed; and the third phase completed the presentation of phased works. In the whole process, through the re-examination of the work, the complete analysis, the decomposition of the connotation and structure of the work, and the use of the language characteristics of photography, the tutor found more expression possibilities for us, so that I found an outlet in the process of improving the work, and even refined the personal possible language style in the process of searching. This kind of search is carried out with the help of the tutor, based on the photography theory system and the interpretation of contemporary images, through the tutor's ideological views, the interaction and participation of teachers and students, the free play of practical practice, equal dialogue and discussion, and other forms of diverse and content-rich learning, so that I have made new improvements in creative ideas, editing ability and self-awareness, etc., and benefited a lot. Even after the training camp, the thoughts were still in my head. As Instructor Li Nan said in class, the end of this training camp is just our new beginning.

The photography cadres of the Cultural Center are important positions in promoting the development of the photography industry, and their own photographic works are the foundation of their standing. At the same time, the current development form of photography has put forward higher requirements for our group photography cadres. Through this training camp, I found that I have many deficiencies, and I will take the results of this training camp as the driving force for the development of Qunwen photography in the new stage and make my due contribution to the development of Zhejiang Qunwen photography.
