But abroad, it is a different kind of value, and fighting is necessary. But after running out of ammunition and isolated, surrender was allowed in order to survive. This seems to be a very normal thing in foreign countries, and after the captives return home, not only will they not be blamed, but they will continue as usual, and even be rewarded.
In World War II, this difference in values was evident. Chinese soldiers in the Chinese battlefield regard death as a homecoming, and almost all of them fight with the determination to die. But on the Battlefield of Europe, it is very common for the French and the British to fight, to run if they can't fight, and to surrender if they can't run.
In view of this situation, many prisons of all kinds have been established in the Lands of Europe to house the defeated prisoners. The most famous of these belongs to the Kolditzburg prison in Germany. Why is this prison famous? Because of the terrible rate of escape in this prison, and the Germans who manage the prison encourage escape, why is this?
The Wehrmacht, which manages the area, believes that it is the honor of a soldier to love freedom, so escaping from prison to gain freedom is a manifestation of military honor, and they respect this honor, so they encourage prisoners of war to escape from prison, but they will not do nothing, but will do everything they can to catch those who have escaped from prison. After being caught, there will be no punishment, but will be held in solitary confinement, which is a bit like a cat and mouse game. However, the most intolerant thing for the Wehrmacht here is to flee, and if they run away in front of the F-F-FDTL, the F-FDTL soldiers will shoot directly, and they feel that this is fear and an act that damages the honor of the soldiers.
So who are the people in this Kolditzburg prison? The people inside were not ordinary prisoners of war, but basically high-ranking officers, some high-ranking intellectuals, these people were "hopelessly" people who opposed the Third Reich.
But even so, the Wehrmacht did not embarrass these people, but ate and drank well, and these prisoners of war ate even better than the guards. Moreover, the Red Cross often sent things to prisoners of war, including food and use, and the Wehrmacht did not deduct it, all to prisoners of war.
In addition, the PRISONERs of war can also carry out sports activities, read books in the library, watch performances in the theater, have dance parties, draw, write, and even write letters to their families. However, such good treatment could not stop the prisoners of war from fighting for "honor", and escapes from prison were still frequent.
The methods by which the PRISONERs escaped from prison were varied, some digging tunnels, some dressing as men and women, some hiding in the garbage and being cleared out, some escaping with German military uniforms exchanged with the guards, and some even building planes in prison! At that time, several British intellectuals decided to build a glider and take off from the roof to escape.
They used bed slats to make keels, sheets to make wings, millet porridge to make paste for sealants, and old circuit boards to make control systems. In the end, a super large glider was built. They also used the power of the bathtub to pull the glider around the launch orbit. But before this great escape plan could be put into practice, the Allies liberated the area, and they didn't have to bother.
Although the three views of foreigners and Chinese are not the same, they are allowed to surrender, but they still fight in the European battlefield, fight to defeat fascism, and also pay a huge sacrifice, worthy of our respect!
