The Daoguang Emperor was the most distinctive emperor in the entire Qing Dynasty, and this feature meant that he inherited the throne as a concubine, which was orthodox. At the same time, from the perspective of talent, he had both literature and martial arts, and in terms of quality, among the thirteen emperors of the Great Qing Dynasty, he may only be inferior to Kangxi, while other emperors, whether they are knowledgeable or strategic, are inferior to him.
Daoguang is very diligent in reading, every day after the completion of official business, he is not busy enjoying himself, but seize the time to read, the collection of books in the inner library, he has read it, so the emperor who reads hard can be said to be rare in history.
What is even more valuable is that Daoguang is not a dead reader, and in promoting traditional culture, Daoguang's contribution does not have to be less than that of cultural people. He presided over the compilation of the famous Kangxi Dictionary, an idea that showed that in terms of culture, he had reached the level of a master. His cultural talents are not used to decorate the façade, but can be learned and applied.
Daoguang's learning was not much different from that of those ministers who had passed the imperial examination and become officials. When he reviewed the ministers' recitals, he was able to point out the wrong words and the use of the wrong allusions. The ministers were very impressed with the mistakes pointed out by the Daoguang Emperor, which showed that daoguang could also be impressed in terms of the purity of learning.

However, the people who are officials are all human spirits, and the ministers may not be as good as Daoguang in terms of learning, but they are much stronger than Daoguang in terms of how to be officials.
When writing the recital, the ministers knew that Daoguang liked to pick thorns, so they did not talk about serious things on the recital, but wrote a lot of nonsense. DaoGuang was very appreciative of such nonsense, because such a recital could show that he was learned. As a result, time is wasted, and how the country is built can be said to have come to a complete halt. As a result, during Daoguang's reign, there was nothing to boast about in the political situation of the Great Qing Dynasty.
Understand the military, can win a decisive victory
The Manchus had a tradition of practicing martial arts, and even if you were an emperor, you could not abandon martial arts. When Daoguang was the crown prince, he experienced the incident of Tianli's invasion of the palace, and his performance at that time was extraordinary, not only going into battle to kill the enemy, but also really killing the disciples of Tianli.
After becoming emperor, Daoguang's shrewdness in martial arts was even more impressive to the ministers. During the Daoguang Dynasty, the Northwest Zhang gere Rebellion was the largest rebellion, which caused the Qing Dynasty to send troops to quell the rebellion. The judgment of the ethnic minorities in the northwest region has a long history, and even Kangxi and Qianlong did not have a good solution.
The Daoguang Emperor knew that the rebellion against the ethnic minorities in the northwest should be pursued in a quick battle, which would save money. However, the Qing dynasty was corrupt, and the military generals felt that counter-rebellion was a good opportunity to make money, so they could delay as long as they could, anyway, the Daoguang Emperor was in Beijing, and could not run to the front line to stare at them.
Therefore, these military generals on the front line made a lot of noise, writing good reports every day saying that They had chased Zhang Ge to some place, and for some reason they did not surround him, but they were still sure to catch him, just ask Daoguang to give him more time, don't urge it.

The generals thought that their method was very useful, but they did not think that Daoguang was not an uninformed person, although he stayed in the palace, he only looked at the map, and the map was not very accurate, even so, Daoguang also saw that the generals' arrangement was nonsense, not in line with his intention to fight quickly.
Therefore, Daoguang personally arranged the battle plan, and then sent it to the front line, ordering the generals to proceed according to their own arrangements.
From the perspective of common sense, Daoguang's doing so is not in line with military common sense, after all, the generals are on the front line and have more say in how to fight. But to the surprise of the generals, they found Daoguang's plan to be more detailed and more feasible than the plan they had formulated. Daoguang even calculated in what direction Zhang Ge would flee after being hit.
As a result, the generals consciously followed Daoguang's plan, and before long, Zhang Ge was in Daoguang's calculations, completely failing, and even lost his life. In this way, Daoguang's military standards were in the front of all the emperors of the Great Qing Dynasty, and they were not inferior to the famous warriors of the Great Qing.

In the later period of Daoguang's reign, British warships came to the door. At the beginning, Daoguang did not show weakness and decided to fight with the British. But for how to fight this new war, Daoguang had no idea. He did not make any preparations for war in advance, and only gave orders to the following in the traditional way. As a result, the soldiers of the Qing Dynasty had not yet completed the assembly, and the British army was already close to Nanjing.
What was even more hilarious was that Daqing had already collapsed on the front line, and Daoguang even thought that he was the winning side. He constantly gave instructions to the officials in the front, all of which were to take advantage of the victory and never accept the British's request for peace talks. It was not until the British arrived in Nanjing that Daoguang found himself fooled by the ministers.
Although the strength of the Qing Dynasty is worse than that of the British, it really has to fight seriously, although it cannot be said that it will win, but it will not lose so badly.
Therefore, in the further decline of the Great Qing, Daoguang was mainly responsible, although his talent was high, it did not help to govern the country, as an emperor, he only hoped that the ministers would be loyal to him, but did not value the ability of the ministers.
