But in her lifetime, the mysterious disappearance of 1926 became the biggest mystery in the eyes of the world at that time. As the annual drama of "a good play", the Chinese version of the musical "Agatha", which is being staged in the Chinese Grand Theatre, offers a new "possibility".
In 1926, Agatha's novel The Doubtful Case of Roger was officially published, a work that is now considered to have established Agatha's unshakable position in the field of detective literature, but it was controversial at the time. On December 3, Agatha disappeared. After 11 days, things turned around and police found Agatha, alias Mrs. Teresa Neil, in a hotel in North Yorkshire.
No one knows why, and even in her own autobiography of Agatha Christie, she avoids talking about the mysterious disappearance as if nothing had happened. Therefore, the Chinese version of the musical "Agatha" is based on the real events of "Agatha's disappearance for 11 days", and a newly created fictional story. While paying tribute to "Roger's Doubt", the real characters and fictional characters are intertwined in the play, and a gentle, strong and intelligent woman is reshaped in front of the audience.
"Agatha" is the first and most frequent korean original musical that Han Kun, a good producer, came into contact with during his study abroad in South Korea. After 8 years, Han Kun finally brought the Chinese version of this musical into China, leading the audience step by step into Agatha's inner world.
The Chinese version of the musical "Agatha" perfectly interprets the content of different stages of the plot such as tension, conflict and reconciliation through changeable musical styles, strong musical colors, and compact theatrical rhythms. Choosing the Chinese and Korean creative team to produce the Chinese version of the musical "Agatha" is not only a challenge, but also a collision of thinking and art.
In terms of stage style, the Chinese version of the musical "Agatha" selects Elements of British architecture from the 1950s, and the overall tone of the vision is dark, retaining a sense of mystery and creating a feeling of uncovering the unknown truth in the dark corners. Complex and interlaced sets, sometimes transformed into a study in the real world, sometimes transformed into a labyrinth in an illusory space, using different perspectives to piece together forgotten truths.
In the eyes of the Korean costume design Chinese version of the musical "Agatha", "Agatha" is changeable. This variety is not only reflected in the design of the costume, but also in the color of the garment - from the dark blue that represents calm and rationality at the beginning, gradually transitions to the elegant dark purple, and finally becomes a freer and more confident red. In order to emphasize the transformation of "Agatha", all the characters around her will use colors that echo it.
In addition to the super behind-the-scenes configuration, the blockbuster cast of the Chinese version of "Agatha" also makes the show more attractive. Zhu Fu, Zheng Yunlong, Zhu Zirong, Zhong Shun'ao, Jiang Qianru, Li Qiumeng, Wang Yingyueyuan... The lyrical story, fierce contradictions, through the interpretation of 9 characters, will show the dramatic experience of "Agatha" in front of the audience.
