【State-owned hotel in front of Jiangyou Railway Station】In the first year of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25 years), Deyang County was established; the location was in the area of present-day Yanmenba. In the second year of the Northern Wei Dynasty (505), Jiangyou County was established, located in the area of present-day Nanba; later, it was renamed Jiangyou County. Although the construction has changed many times in history, the establishment of Jiangyou County and Zhangming County has been inherited.
【Street View of Jiangyou City】Zhangming County is located in the south of present-day Jiangyou; in the first year of the Later Tang Dynasty (923), Changlong County was renamed Zhangming County. During the Ming Dynasty, Zhangming County was successively subordinated to Chengdu Prefecture and Long'an Prefecture. During the Qing Dynasty, Zhangming County was successively subordinate to Mianzhou and Long'an Province. After liberation, Zhangming County belonged to the Mianyang Special District of Sichuan Province.
At the end of the 1950s, Zhangming County and Jiangyou County were abolished and merged to form Jiangyou County; later renamed Jiangyou County. At this time, Jiangyou County was still under the Jurisdiction of Mianyang Prefecture (later renamed Mianyang District). At the end of the 1980s, Jiangyou City (county-level) was established as a county-level city under the direct administration of Sichuan Province, and was managed by the previously established Mianyang City (prefecture level).

【Jiangyou City Market】In the old days, Zhongba Town, the county seat of Jiangyou County, was called Little Chengdu. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, it was a famous Chinese herbal medicine market in the province; pharmaceutical merchants from various provinces bought medicinal materials from Maogong, Songpan and Shaanxi and Gansu. Varieties include astragalus, angelica, ephedra, red peony, qianghuo, rhubarb and so on. In the early twenties, the market entered its heyday.
【High-rise buildings in Jiangyou City】In the 26th year of the Republic of China (1937), the Sichuan-Shaanxi Highway was opened to traffic; transport vehicles replaced the traditional modes of transportation such as horse riding and human back; the new highway also changed the transportation route of Shaanxi-Gansu medicinal materials. Due to the warlords in the province and the frequent banditry, the trading volume of Zhongba medicinal materials gradually shrank, and the market declined.
