Sony opens up a new track officially announced the entry of electric vehicles

Kenichiro Yoshida, chairman and chief executive of Sony Group in Japan, announced on Tuesday (January 4) evening that a new electric vehicle company, the latest technology company to enter the electric vehicle industry, will be established this spring.

At the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Sony showcased a prototype of a new Vision SUV and announced the formation of a new company, Sony Mobility, to begin the commercialization of electric vehicles.

Kenichiro Yoshida unveiled a keynote speech at CES 2022, showcasing the Vision-S sedan unveiled at CES last year. This year, Sony added another model: the Vision-SUV prototype.

He said the company is exploring the commercial rollout of Sony's electric vehicles. "Last year, we were excited by the presentation of Vision-S, which encouraged us to think further about how we can use creativity and technology to change the experience of people traveling."

Kenichiro Yoshida said: "This is our new Vision-SUV. Vision-S was developed on a foundation of safety, adaptability, and entertainment. Safety has always been our top priority when it comes to creating a comfortable travel experience. This did not change when this SUV was developed. A total of 40 sensors are installed inside and outside the vehicle to monitor the safety of the vehicle. ”

Kenichiro Yoshida said: "In terms of adaptability, our connectivity allows us to build a car that is constantly evolving. With 5G technology, high-speed, high-capacity and low-latency connectivity can be achieved between in-vehicle systems and the cloud. VIsion-S also evolves mobility into an entertainment space that includes gaming experiences and audio. Through our exploration of VIsion-S, and through the partners who support this initiative, we have learned more about mobility technology. ”

Sony also announced that it will set up a new company, Sony Mobility, to accelerate the commercialization of Sony's electric vehicles. This suggests that in the near future, Sony electric vehicles may appear in front of the public.

In addition, Sony also held a new TV new product launch conference, announced the 2022 BRAVIA XR series of new products, including the 8KMini LED TV Z9K, 4KMini LED TV X95K, the QD-OLED panel equipped with the Picture Series A95K, the 4K OLED TV A80K and the 4K full array backlit LCD TV X90K, all of which are equipped with Sony XR cognitive chips.
