Guangzhou, January 4 (China News Network) -- The "Southern Flower City Winter Olympics • The First Bay Area Ice and Snow Culture Festival" was launched in Huadu District, Guangzhou. Spanning more than 3 months, the event covered the entire cycle of the Beijing Winter Olympics and helped the Winter Olympics from all levels.

There are 12 theme activities of "Nanguo Flower City Winter Olympics • The First Bay Area Ice and Snow Culture Festival", which was officially launched on January 4 to the end of April, lasting more than 3 months, covering the pre-, middle and late Stages of the Beijing Winter Olympics, from competitive sports, mass sports, sports industry, sports culture, sports communication and other levels to help the Winter Olympics, and comprehensively promote the popularization and development of ice and snow sports in Guangzhou.

The series of activities will mobilize the people of the city to participate in ice and snow activities, including holding city-wide theme publicity, southern ice and snow story meetings, and Guangzhou "Winter Olympics" map punch card and other activities. Among them, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Ski Elite Challenge and the Winter Olympics live broadcast series of activities in the Southern Ice and Snow Studio stimulated the public's enthusiasm for participating in ice and snow sports; youth ski competitions, painting essay contests and other activities to promote the popularization and development of youth ice and snow sports in Guangzhou; "Olympic stars talk about the Olympics", "learn to ski with Olympic champions", parent-child snow battle (that is, snowball fight) and ice and snow fun camp and other activities, setting off a national ski boom.

According to Xing Xiang, secretary of the Huadu District Party Committee, Huadu District, with the Sunac Snow World Project as the traction, has initially formed a "Ice and Snow Huadu" boutique tourism brand that athletes can race, enthusiasts can practice, and beginners can play, and has become an important node of "one journey and multiple stops" tourism in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Since its opening on June 15, 2019, Sunac Snow World has accumulated more than 1.9 million passengers, becoming one of the fastest ski resorts in the world to exceed one million passenger flows.

It is understood that Guangzhou Huadu has the largest indoor ski resort in South China and the world's longest indoor ski track, with the supporting facilities and organizational capabilities to host international and national professional ski events, and in recent years, it has taken the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Ski Elite Challenge" as an opportunity to attract the attention of international and domestic well-known ice and snow events and ice and snow sports enthusiasts. At present, 18 ski school teams have been formed in the whole district, and the formation and training of the ice hockey and figure skating youth teams of the 16th Guangzhou Provincial Games have been undertaken.
