The family musical series "The Great Monster in the Forbidden City" ushered in the 100th and 101st performances in Beijing on the 3rd, so far this family musical has allowed more than 130,000 parent-child audiences to feel the beauty of China's excellent traditional culture in the opera Chinese music and ethnic dance in the past four years.

Adapted from the children's book of the same name by Chang Yi, winner of the "Bingxin Children's Literature Award", "The Lost Dragon Girl's Wedding Dress of the Great Monster in the Forbidden City" not only recreates the "Wonderful Night of the Forbidden City" on the stage, but also tells the Chinese stories that children like in the form of musicals.

The drama selects story passages such as "The Marriage of the Little Dragon Girl", "The Boy Who Sleeps in the Dragon Bed", "The Underground Palace of Jinshui River" and so on from the original work, telling the story of the dragon king's daughter Xiaolongnü on the eve of her marriage, the wedding dress is mysteriously lost, and the girl Li Xiaoyu and the big monsters in the Forbidden City start an adventure to find a wedding dress.

The changing dance of the clouds and the flowing water is one of the highlights of the play. The curtain opened, and the Forbidden City, which has a history of more than 600 years, was once again revitalized on the stage. Using historical materials as a reference, the main creative team extracted the graphics on the roof ridge of the Forbidden City, the arches and the patterns on the ancient costumes, artistically carried out the "reorganization" design, and with the help of multimedia technology, presented the characteristics of the Forbidden City and the beauty of traditional Chinese cultural elements.

Zhang Haijun, chairman of Beijing Performance Co., Ltd., said that works of art with the theme of promoting traditional culture have gradually become the mainstream of stage dramas and become an important carrier of family aesthetic education. "The Chinese story is very interesting, the traditional culture is promising, I hope that in the new year, more audiences will enter the theater and feel the infiltration of traditional Chinese culture."
