"Entertain to Death"

After reading this book, the sentence that touched me most was a prophecy of Huxley: What destroys us is not what we hate, but what we love.

It also reminds me of the "pacifier music theory" that has become popular in recent years.

As a result of technological development, machines replacing manpower, and rising productivity, a large part of the world's population will not have to and cannot actively participate in production. To avoid conflict, it is to make a "pacifier" and feed it with a "pacifier", so that intoxicating pastime and products full of sensory stimulation (TV, games) fill life, divert their attention and dissatisfaction, and let them lose the ability to think in "happiness".

At present, there are two main forms of "pacifiers": 1, venting entertainment, violent online games, and war of words; 2, contentment games, soap idol dramas, detailed scandals, reality shows and other entertainment programs.

I don't know how it is abroad, at present, these two forms can be described as vividly displayed in China, and most of them are concentrated in young groups, and there is a trend of getting younger and younger. They are only content to stay at home, paralyzing themselves with games, virtual social networking, etc., and resisting real social and work.

A strong youth is a strong country, but the current situation of teenagers today is really worrying!
