TSMC invested heavily in the 1/2nm process

On January 4, TSMC decided to build a 100-hectare factory in Taichung's Zhongke Park, with a total investment of NT$800 billion to 1 trillion (about $28.9 billion to $36.1 billion). This investment includes a future 2nm process plant, and subsequent 1nm process plants will also fall in the park.

TSMC invested heavily in the 1/2nm process

The industry expects TSMC's 2nm process to be in trial production in 2024 and mass production in 2025, after which the 1nm process will follow. In addition, after 1nm, TSMC will enter the new generation of "Amy" process (Amy is one-tenth of the nanometer), the Amy generation process intends to settle in Kaohsiung, but TSMC has not confirmed.
