It can be said that Chiang Kai-shek's life was a life of struggle with all kinds of people, Hu Hanmin, Wang Jingwei, Feng Yuxiang, Yan Xishan, Li Zongren... All of them were chaotic tyrants, but they were all eradicated by Chiang Kai-shek one by one.
However, after Chiang Kai-shek eradicated these predators, another person appeared, which made him anxious, and what made him even more depressed was that he would not think that this person would betray him when he was killed.
This man, named Mao Bangchu, was the nephew of Chiang Kai-shek's original wife, Mao Fumei.
In terms of family affection, the two have a very close relationship; from experience, Mao Bangchu was a student of the third phase of Huangpu; in terms of ability, Mao Bangchu successively studied in the Soviet Union and Italy, and his ability in the construction of the air force is extraordinary. Therefore, Mao Bangchu easily obtained Chiang Kai-shek's weight and was promoted to deputy commander-in-chief of the Air Force.
However, it was this position of "deputy commander-in-chief of the Air Force" that made Mao Bangchu turn against his uncle Chiang Kai-shek. What's going on?
As I said just now, Mao Bangchu had an extremely close relationship with Chiang Kai-shek, and his ability was extraordinary, so his ambitions were also extremely great; in his heart, the position of "commander-in-chief of the air force" was already in his pocket, but he never expected that his uncle would actually give this seat to Zhou Zhirou, who had nothing to do with him! Since then, Mao Bangchu has begun to fight with Zhou Zhirou.
As early as the war of resistance against Japanese Aggression, Mao Bangchu was appointed by Chiang Kai-shek as the director of the Air Force office in the United States, responsible for the purchase of military aircraft in the United States and other business. There is no doubt that this is a big fat difference. But in 1950, Zhou Zhirou, with the support of Chen Cheng, established the "China International Business Corporation" at the Air Force Headquarters to replace the Air Force office in the United States. This was naturally countered by Mao Bangchu.
In May 1950, Mao Complained to Chiang Kai-shek that the 25 P-51 fighter jets and 3 million gallons of aviation fuel purchased by China International Commerce Corporation from the United States were priced far beyond normal and were serious corruption.
Chiang Kai-shek was a man who hated corruption the most, and who had just been defeated and retired from Taiwan, and who had to make careful calculations everywhere; at this time, some people dared to enrich themselves; therefore, Chiang Kai-shek was extremely angry and let people thoroughly investigate the case. However, everyone also knows that the air force during the Republic of China period was actually controlled by Song Meiling, and even after the defeat of Taiwan, it could not be related to Song Meiling, so it could only be stopped when it was checked and checked.
Mao Bangchu failed to make a plan, and held a press conference in the United States to publicly expose Zhou Zhirou's corruption and transferred millions of dollars of public funds handed to him by Chiang Kai-shek to his personal account. This move caused an uproar in the world, and naturally caused Chiang Kai-shek's anger, and he ordered Mao Bangchu to be suspended from his post and investigated.
At that time, the US Senate was discussing the topic of "military aid" to Taiwan, and naturally it was also very concerned about this incident, believing that Chiang Kai-shek was too incompetent, which led to serious corruption in the military. Against Mao, the U.S. Senate also adopted an attitude of asylum and refused to send him back.
Chiang Kai-shek had no choice but to send Zhou Hongtao and 5 other barristers to the US court to file a lawsuit against Mao Bangchu. However, Mao Bangchu had also prepared a deadly killing move.
On the day of the trial, Mao Bangchu did not wait for Zhou Hongtao to speak, and took the lead in pointing out that the legitimate president of the "Republic of China" was Li Zongren, and Chiang Kai-shek was a usurper, so he did not have the right to sue him.
This trick is too powerful!
As everyone knows, Chiang Kai-shek announced his retirement on January 21, 1949, with Li Zongren as acting president, so the nominal president of the "Republic of China" was Li Zongren, not Chiang Kai-shek. Before the court's hearing, Mao Bangchu lived in Li Zongren's home in the United States, and Li Zongren also wrote a letter to the Washington District Court to prove that he was the legitimate president of the "Republic of China."
After this news came back, you can imagine how angry Chiang Kai-shek was.
It was not until June 1954 that the U.S. Court of The District of Columbia re-ruled that Mao would initially need to refund $6.36 million in public funds. At this time, Mao Bangchu had fled to Mexico.
It was another four years later, at the end of 1958, that Chiang Kai-shek reached a settlement with Mao Bangchu, allowing Mao Bangchu to leave some of his property and return all the rest of the property, and promised not to pursue it in the future.
It was only at this time that the "Mao Bangchu Incident", which had left Chiang Kai-shek in a state of disarray, was finally concluded.
